Jordan was the #2 recruit in the country. Everyone wanted her. Sports Illustrated did a feature on her.

Was she this turnover-prone in high school/AAU? Is it just trying to do too much, or has she not adjusted to the speed of college defenses? Surely her college teammates are as adept at reading the passes/communicating/catching the ball as her previous teammates.

Not worried about her.... she is a freshman.... If anything, she shouldn't be on floor all the time....

84 turnovers in 19 games. This may be a record.

Fun fact: Ja Morant led the NCAA in turnovers last season with 170. He averaged 5 turnovers a game.

... of course, he also had 10 assists and 24 points a game, so.

I think my point here is that the number alone doesn't explain the meaning of it or the reasons why a player might have an outlying stat. I am not saying she doesn't need to get better at taking care of the ball, just that some of the turnovers may come from specific team problems that the Lady Vols need to improve on, or responsibilities Horston is asked to shoulder.

Turnovers can be controlled if Coach Harper would install the Rick Barnes method. In practice, if a player has a turnover, Barnes makes the player run all the way from the floor to the top of the arena. If a player makes 4 turnovers and has to run from the floor to the top and back, he soon learns to have basketball security.
I would make that player run suicides.

Our TO's just killed us tonight. UConn had 17 more FG attempts than we did.

We need to keep Jazz at the point. She's a better ball handler and decision maker, and she knows how much time is left on the shot/game clock, to which some of our players are oblivious. We also need to stop Burrell from drbbling the length of the court...no good comes from that unless it's a legit fast break.

Our post players need to be doing drills to teach them to hang onto the dang ball. There was a series of 7 or 8 consecutive plays in the second half where KK and Key had the ball land right in their hands and either dropped it or let someone else take it away.

Suddenly our last turnover queen "Sorry not Sorry" Westbrook doesn't look so bad...

I like what I saw through first half. Second half, we got tired, they knew our weakness. I read where some of our fans said that we will get beat by 100 point... Never knew Geno is that short. Great job Kellie, TN is back!!

Serious question.
In high school, what position did Horston play? If point guard, did she have a lot of assists or was she primarily a scorer? Did she primarily drive to the basket or was she an outside shooter? To me, she seems like a wing trying to play PG.

I don’t know about that she came from a power house that it seeems like everybody get a division 1 scholarship those girls went undefeated (yes it was high school) but with one of the toughest schedules there was they played Rickea Jackson’s team and other teams around the country. I honestly don’t think players like Harris would have made that team and even KK would have either had to get better or get shipped out.

Struggling is putting it very mild. She rarely blocks out, plays very weak in the post, not very aggressive, misses easy shots and plays like she is tired.
She is terribly out of shape. WBB is a fast pace game now and she can’t keep up. Sadly the other choices behind her are just as slow.

Kushkitua is struggling. She is too dang big to be so soft, she keeps dropping her hands with the ball at that height keep it in the air. Don't let your hands get down to your waist near the basket. Plus she needs to work on her hands. She touched about 20 rebounds tonight but didn't bring that many in. Frustrating for sure. Coach Harper has to be livid

Plays with no urgency or court awareness. Game is too fast for her, IMO.

Horston appeared terrified last night. You could see it in her eyes and her willingness to defer. Our Bigs are just too weak, slow and unathletic. Way too much standing around on offense.
JH will overcome her issues, and recruiting more athletic posts will solve the Bigs issue. Regardless, the program is trending in the right direction.

defense is not running up to defend and watching as the player runs by you to get up a shot...lots to work on...

I hear ya, but she is making fundamental error turnovers, such as leaving her feet off the dribble without knowing what she’s going to do next. She does these type of things repeatedly. Such is not the cause of other players.

I agree that she plays out of control. She tries to make the impossible pass, and none of her team mates do much to help her fumbling it away. But look at Burrell she will dribble into three people and turn it over when she had an open shot. If Hornston would let the game come to her and not try to be a superstar she would probably be a superstar, she is really good and will be better but has to slow down.
Agreed. That is where KJH has the coaching responsibility for change.

Soft is the wrong word......Not strong..... She also does not act like she like contact. May have come up in a system where rough play was not allowed by her teams or by the officials in her games. May take a while to overcome this trait. Being not strong can be fixed with a good off season program of S&C. The rest is inside her head.
But she is not the only one not strong. The whole bunch lacks strength. With strength will come quickness, better passing, better ball handling in general, more confidence, more aggression and most anything you can think of. Gotta grow up to their height physically.

The team needs a couple quick point guards. It is so obvious. They could barely run their offense in the second half because of pressure which leads to all those turnovers. Non-point guards are playing point guard for us. Never beat a good team until that piece gets here.
