What I saw last night, was a team that wanted it more than the other team wanted it. The strength factor, the go get it factor, the will not lose tonight factor. Our team is young, but I think learned a lot last night. Key got a lesson on aggression, which I think will definitely help her going forward. Burrell and Horston are the only two that will go get a rebound, instead of waiting for it to come to them. Everyone talks about length, and it's good when used correctly, but those smaller players ate their lunch in the second half. Losing Zay hurt this team a lot, but I see a storm a coming around tourney time. Go Lady Vols!

Some of Jordy turnovers our rushing or out of control this will change with more experience at this level. Some of hers and others our because our Post do not understand the positioning and angles it takes to receive the ball. For Key its about learning this trait. I watched Boston lady for SC and for a young big she understands position and angles very rare for a Freshman.

One more try: what does this mean? No question, our young team totally lost poise and as KJH said, their composure. And the staff was unable to help them regain it. Frustrating, especially after being so very composed to start the game. But do you really think that was because the players decided they just weren't very invested in the outcome? There's something intentional and lazy about "they didn't want it" that bothers me.

Almost all Jordy turnovers are rushing and/or out of control. Decision-making is her obvious bugaboo. Alot has been placed on her rookie shoulders in a hurry. We pray that experience at this level will change this. It's just we've seen so many LVs not change this with experience the last few years we're extra worried. Need to see some tangible improvement as we go thru this next tough SEC stretch.

As far as post responsibility for non-catches, yes many have fingers of pure butter and don't position correctly. But its the PG's job to throw passes they can actually catch, to adapt her dishes to their abilities.

84 turnovers in 19 games. This may be a record.

That is an average of 4.5 per game. In one recent game, she had 6 and the opposition team scored 12 points from her turnovers. Subtract that 12 points from her 16 points scored and it leaves only 4 points left. That is not good at all. This LV team like last year has absolutely a problem with basketball security (turnovers). Last year Coach Rick Barnes had only 8 to 9 for a whole game...in practice if you have a turnover with him its run from the playing floor to the top of the arena and back. That is why he has very few turnovers, although they have increased this year due to new players, etc.

So you have actually gone to the Lady VOLS coaching staff and offered your services? If not, posting anonymously on a web site does not count as chasing your pipe dream.

Not the new staff, no
I thought it wise to see how they did before offering any input

Jump doesn't understand this definition...
pipe dream
/ˈpīp ˌdrēm/
noun

  1. an unattainable or fanciful hope or scheme.
"free trade in international aviation will remain a pipe dream"
At least I have the drive and fortitude to attempt mine
As Grayson Marshall said - If people aren't laughing at your dreams, then they aren't big enough.

This game was actually a tale of two cities or halves.
The first half was won by size and defense, the winner
no doubt was our ladies.
The second half was won by speed and offense, the
winner , uconn.
If you have height, length, and rate as one of the elite
defenses in play ,use it ,perfect it, and beat the hell out
of the smaller and quicker teams.
The Alabama and this game shows that teams are
starting to use their speed to outhustle and out play us.
I'm sure you notice this team is flat footed and slow.
Especially Kasi and Lou ( braced leg). Matter of fact , Lou Brown seem to be the point of attack or target for some teams as of late. They're not the only members
of the ' never leave the floor, gravity is for real, flat footed
and out of sync ' brigade.
Also tell Burrell , this is not Star Wars and we dont
need you to be Hans SOLO. 1+4 =5.
I'm going to hold from throwing Jordan under the bus
and making her roadkill on my menu.
New starting five: Davis, Key, Burrell, Massengill, Horston

I hope they can play the whole game since there will be no bench. And with these 5 together logging this many minutes we will break the 35 turnover record vs South Carolina.

Good post Prophet.......

So true our girls have no lift, they can't jump. Whatever happened to wearing the leg/ankle weights through the day to help with jumping? Has that been outlawed? (Answered my own question....Not preferred now...In my day we all wore em)

Burrell does get into a gear where she is taking on the whole other team and is determined to shoot or drive into the masses.....The only thing missing is a train whistle.

The excitement playing UConn was fun for this board...I did read some of the Boneyard and some, not all, of their posters believe we don't belong on the same court as their team....Sure these same arrogant basxxxxxs weren't thinking that at half time....

In any event, on to the next game....What a pisser!

Yet some will tell you that 4.4 turnovers per game is acceptable just like it was acceptable for Lamont Turner when he was playing!!!!

1. Come on ...show some grace...the freshmen we are playing are not quite ready yet! It takes time for the game to slow down.
They are getting better ...it takes more court time.
2. (Bad) Habits are hard to break ...I know it is frustrating.
3. They are playing slow for a reason ...they do not yet know what they are supposed to be doing. (Hence the high number of turnovers.)

Let's see what the product on the floor looks like at the end of Feb. 👍
