well, we hit the jackpot again on the third lane leaving the parking lot. i'll be parking at Red Barn campground from this point on if i'm doing a day trip to Bristol. it appears that the lane is set up for the tractor trailers to get out. i've only ever seen the team haulers head North out of the track, never South like they were last night, though. it's usually the merch trailers and such going South.

it took exactly 3 hours to get home anyway because there was an 18 wheeler that came across the interstate some where around mile marker 10 on 81. had we not been slowed by that, i bet we could have been home 45 minutes earlier.

got a call at noon that I had two free tickets so I trudged up to BMS to watch the race. I missed the first 40 laps but hey it was free save for $10 to park. Anyway, wife and I went to the Nationwide race as her dad gave us tickets for Saturday and then got tickets from my aunt yesterday. Both days what we done was go down 394 past the track and park in that Farmer Bob's or whatever its called. Then when the race is over we took 394 to Bristol, VA. We then got on State Street and then 11-W. Went into Kingsport and hit Highway 93 (Kingsport Hwy) and came home. It was a little out of the way but I have heard that's as fast to get home and especially stay out of all the traffic and I loved doing that both days. We were able to slip out of that traffic - go eat somewhere nice and sit down in Kingsport - and then get right on 93 and head down to Greeneville. I knew something was going on when I saw that traffic on 81 as we passed under the bridge right before we turned down on the part of 93 that takes you to Greeneville. Obviously some were exiting off there too trying to figure out how to get out of that traffic but no clue where they were. We had 7-8 cars we got behind on 93 that would move over to let us go because they were going so slow or was just turning around, lost. I don't know how others leave the track but to get to Greeneville, Rogersville, Morristown, Kingsport, or even JC its not a bad way to go at all.

I played Graysburg for the first time last fall. We went in without a tee time (but we thought since it was a Monday it wouldn't be a big deal) - and it turned out to be. They were hosting the Miller Brewing Company and they had people all over creation playing that day. I offered to come back another time but the guy in the clubhouse huffed around and said no we can work you in. Went out, and since all these Miller guys were getting drunk off their butts, proceeded to play 18 holes in about 9 hours.

I loved the scenery and the course was great but the overall experience for us sucked because of the guy being rude in the clubhouse treating us like third world citizens and then having to dodge drunk guys bad shots all day long. We will likely try it again but its not on the agenda soon. There are too many other courses we would like to play around East TN at least once. We just started last year playing more courses once we got good enough not to kill anyone with bad shots. Still wanting to play Elizabethton, Baneberry, Eagles Landing, Cattails, Warriors Path, Woodlake, etc. We would like to hit about 3-4 new courses every year in rotation to Rivertrace (now Nolachuckey Bluffs), Andrew Johnson, and Twin Creeks here in town. We play them mostly because they are cheaper but also close.

Is a nice golf course, but I played better ones in Ohio. Quail Hollow and Firestone.

There are definitely better quality courses, but it is my favorite layout ever and the fact my membership was only $425/yr makes me think even more highly of it. In the early 2000s, Graysburg received 4 1/2 stars from Golf Digest

I always received impeccable service at Gburg. DnD, I'd recommend heading towards Motown and playing somewhere like Millstone instead of Warriors. The Crossings in Jonesborough is also nice. Just make sure you are hitting them straight before you head to 'Betsy.

Red Tail in Mountain City is also nice if you make it out that way.

thanks for all the help everyone, i finally made it back to STL and im exhausted... we took 75 to the track Saturday and made good time; we stayed and grilled after the legends race to let the traffic die down and took 81 back to the hotel with no problems.. Sunday morning we took 81 to the track, (my stubborn father refused to believe 81 could get backed up) but we left early enough so that traffic wasnt bad until we got near the track.. coming back to the hotel sunday night was a DISASTER.. once again my father demanded we take 81, and he was the DD so who was i to argue.. we tailgaited at the Volunteer Baptist Church, and stayed at least 2-3 hours after the race and partied with some nice folks we met 3 years ago at bristol, before we left.. well they make you turn right out of the church and have all the turn-arounds blocked so we ended up getting on 81 and still had 7 miles before we got back to the track exit  as doozer said there was a horrible looking 18 wheeler wreck across the median, through the trees, which literally backed up traffic for 25 miles.. we moved 15 miles in 2 hours, so that was about 5 hours after the race was over.. it was crazy, ppl were pulling over and peeing in the woods, on the road, anywhere they could.. traffic opened up right after the wreck (of course), cops were already gone but i guess ppl staring at the wreck cause the traffic to back up.. there was a rest area right past the wreck and it looked like there was more ppl there than ive ever seen at one rest area.. anyways, traffic sucked but the trip was great overall

sunday morning we walked down around the merchandise trailors around 10 am.. we came up on the backside of a toyota venue and were almost ran over by a golf cart carrying Logano (my dad refuses to believe hes old enough to drive :)).. Kurt Busch signed autographs in front of a large crowd at his trailor.. Casey Mears had a huge jacked up golf cart with "Mears Gang" on the front, it was pretty sweet (i got a good pick of him signing autographs), Robby Gordon also had a sweet big ass cart, he was the only one i saw driving his own.. he pulled right up beside us and asked us how we were doing before i could realize who it even was (also got a good pic of him).. also saw Allmendinger, Hamlin, and Sorenson on carts.. ill try to put some pics up sometime

I also hope you all got to see the guy with "88" shaved into his chest/stomach hair.. possibly the most redneck thing ive even witnessed haha.. he came in the bathroom (hammered) yelling about being on TV and all this junk.. i hope he was on TV after all the yelling about it

very cool. I always like the people that are hated and that's probably why I like Robby Gordon so much.

Kyle Busch is another possibility, but I'm pretty sure I like him just because of his boss.

i agree with you, ive always like Robby too, and like ive said many times, Kyles growing on me.. obviously none of the big names could make it through the crowd on a cart but still even the lesser names had drivers and 2 or 3 others moving ppl out of the way.. Robby came right up behind us driving his own jacked up cart with only one other guy with him and hopped a curb (just to see if he could do it), then asked us how we were doinog and walked right through the crowd to his trailer.. all the other guys were dropped off at their trailer and had a trail made for them.. like doozer said, kyles trailer had a big crowd the whole time and i noticed a lot more ppl wearing 18 merchandise

I'm glad everyone got home in a timely fashion. It took me and my father 7 hours to get back to Knoxville after race. We parked in the handicapped lot between the track and dragstrip. We ended up getting routed down the backside of the dragstrip, then to a 2 lane road that ran parrallel with highway 394, we then got to see downtown Bristol, and finally got on the Interstate in Virginia(which went well for about 3 miles).

There's a guy that walks around during the race with a beer bong and gets people to drink out of it. My father and I talked to him after the race yesterday and he was telling us about Robby Gordon doing a beer bong with him. Robby is one of the drivers I could see doing that. This is the only picture from Sunday I can get to upload right now, I may try again tomorrow.

Robby could have been a champion in every series he raced in if his head could match his talent.
