The COVID-19 pandemic did not begin until Donald Trump's last year in office in late January of 2020.

During Donald Trump's first two years in office, from January of 2017 until December of 2018, Republicans had a majority control of both chambers of Congress. The economy was expanding, and did not need fiscal stimulus.

and yet, Republicans were in favor of this ...

COVID-19 doesn't serve as much of an excuse, when you consider how Trump and his Republican cohorts were blowing through money during his first two years in office - which Rep. Kevin McCarthy never voiced an objection to.

You asked for #1, I gave you an answer to why they care with a Dem in office. Because a manufactured virus magically appeared causing chaos.

You asked #2 and I stated what happened as you said no right winger wouldn’t answer.

So are you saying that the republicans are making this up, just like the democrats did the Russian hoax?
What we need is a totally sequestered grand jury that has no access to outside news at all (house them in a mansion with the best food and drink available just no radio or Internet or news).
Give them details of potential corruption cases from DC but with names and political party redacted. Let them decide based on the facts alone. Justice should be blind

Why do Republicans only care about spending reductions and the debt when a Democrat is President?

^^^ This is a completely reasonable question, which never gets answered. ^^^
the same reason why Leftists don't care about it when they aren't in power.

Democrats have always been free-spenders. There is no difference in their approach to fiscal policy from when they are in power vs when they aren't in power. It always revolves around "tax and spend." It is fiscally irresponsible, but at least they are consistently irresponsible ... and "tax and spend" is more fiscally sound than "cut taxes and spend," (like Trump did) which blows a hole in the deficit.

Republicans give the pretense of caring about the debt, when a Democrat is President. It's hypocritical as all living hell.

So would you admit that unsound dem fiscal policy carries over to following GOP administrations, and that sometimes dem policies are really ticking timebombs that don't immediately affect the budget? What about the times (as in multiple) that a dem administration has cut military spending to apply to frivolous stuff and then the following adult administration has to repair the damage? Who is going to be paying for all the immigrants that biden and company are letting in? I don't think you'll find that this administration has taken the financial hit and funded some sort of trust fund to cover their costs down the road - don't think the obama gang did that either.

Democrats are always in favor of increasing taxes and increasing spending. It is fiscally irresponsible, but not unsound. Cutting taxes and increasing spending, as Republicans did during Trump's first two years in office, is unsound ... and it was completely unnecessary at the time. The economy was booming. There was no need to increase spending. The economy was expanding, and not in need of stimulus.

The Trump tax cuts would have been great ... except that they were not done in-conjunction with spending cuts. Granted, Democrats were more than happy to go along with the increases in spending ... but from January of 2017 until December of 2018, Republicans held majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, and had a Republican President. Therefore, they have ownership over what was added to the debt in those two years. Did any House Republicans object to the spending increases during Trump's first two years in office? Not as far as I can tell.

Tax cuts don't necessarily result in decreased tax revenue - at least that what DC accountants have shown a few times. I definitely haven't developed any wild admiration for DC pencil pushers, though. However, we have seen energy prices hurt the economy which in turn causes a reduction in spending which likewise affects jobs and job growth. Both high energy and high taxes have a negative coefficient of growth and stimulus on an economy because both suck the disposable income that could be used to fuel the economy out of the system. From that perspective it's reasonable to assume that the economic growth that can come from increased disposable income has the ability to stimulate business which in turn creates new jobs. Vampiric blood sucking by inflated energy costs and taxes doesn't do any economic system any good - just turns them anemic or kills them.
