House votes to decriminalize marijuana at federal level

No I believe in freedom. I don’t believe driving reckless or dangerously putting others at risk selfishly or believe people have a “right” to do so. Just like i don’t believe it’s ok for people to shoot in the air or at crowds or throw rocks off interstate bridges

That bullet is being fired with the point of hitting someone

That rock being thrown is intended to hit a car

The fact that you equate these with operating a vehicle while intoxicated only shows your tragically limited ability to think critically.

No the logic they stated was that reckless actions should be legal as long as no one is hurt. Do you believe reckless behavior should only be punished if someone is hurt?

Again, you dishonest dimwit. I never stated my opinion. I simply explained the argument is one of personal responsibility and the belief that criminal offenses ought to have a victim.

So again using that “logic” if I fire a gun up in the air or at a neighborhood several times but no one is hit or hurt, should that reckless behavior be illegal? Yes or no

I'm on board with this line of thinking specifically where it applies to seatbelt laws. And helmets on bicycles/motorcycles.
I take all available safety measures but it should not be a criminal offense if I don’t.

Firing in the air. No, I don't think that if you adhere to the no victim no crime line of thinking that reckless behavior that does not result in injury to person or property would be considered criminal.

Firing into a neighborhood. Did the shooter hit the property of another? If so, yes crime. As for people, I assume that it depend upon your intent. Were you intending to kill someone?

I don't disagree. The government should not take it upon the protection of its citizens from themselves.

This is my point.

Driving under the influence
Shooting in air
Throwing rocks off interstate bridge
Driving on the wrong side of the road
Speeding over 110 mph on city road
Walking in middle of interstate

These are all reckless actions which don’t necessarily meet criminal intent to hurt someone but using this weird logic, Hog doesn’t think these things should be criminally illegal “if no one gets hurt”.

Do you agree with this or not? These actions COuLd place several people in danger or could not hurt anyone but they still need to be illegal

Ok, now I will provide you my opinion. We have FAR too many laws. I do believe that there need to be some laws on the books which punish reckless behavior when there is no victim. Some examples of laws that should be eliminated seatbelt laws, helmet laws, many drug laws, etc. Since DUI seems to be the fun topic in this thread I will weigh in on that one too. I think enforcement of DUI laws is no longer about public safety. It is a cottage industry in which numerous folks have their hands out from alcohol counselors to breathalyzer folks to the police. Check points should be illegal and I believe them to be unconstitutional though the courts do not agree. Cops roaming around creating reasons to pull people over or pulling them over for minor offenses (tag light) specifically to try and determine whether the driver has been drinking should also be prohibited.

I received my drivers license at 16 years old and naturally wanted to cruise around town with my friends. Long story short, I got pulled over by a cop. Politely asked the officer what did I do wrong? Nothing he replied but my partner and I suspect you have contraband in your vehicle. He took a big whiff (I think he was trying to smell for weed) inside my car. He Did not “detect” anything and said OK have a nice day then jumped in his cruiser. Crap like that is complete BS.

I don’t disagree with 75% of this post.

Yes, but if someone drives while intoxicated, and so much as damages property, the punishment should be much harsher than that of a current DUI/DWI.

What? You think children shouldn’t be restrained in cars? You’re fine with little infants being thrown from a car in the event of an accident? I’m never letting my kids ride with you.

Sorry, just wanted to see how it felt. I don’t understand the appeal, tbh.

So is driving a car.

Driving under the influence is an action without harm. It is a crime without a victim.

It’s an insane government revenue scheme and the decision on road blocks was one of the worst in Supreme Court history. “It’s not constitutional but you can keep doing it as long as you tell the peasants before you do it”.

Fortunately a few states have got this right

This just happened to you once? Hell, I was pulled over more than a dozen times when I was 16, but luckily my uncle was a judge and my name got me released. It was like being a fellow cop.

The point I was trying to make was being pulled over for doing nothing wrong. The Cop even admitted that. No speeding, traffic violations, reckless driving etc. Cops pulling over law abiding people because they have a hunch is an absolute crock of $hit.

Agree 100% absent from some probable cause or reasonable suspicion
