How big of an upset would this be?

Kirk has always liked Tennessee, he's just cooled on them the past few years because they've sucked.

This is true. He speaks highly of the program, even though there hasn't been much positive to say over the past five years.

Does he really?

He moved his family a couple of years ago. And this is the real reason. He felt like he couldn't be honest about Ohio State, cause if he ever said anything negative, his friends and neighbors ragged on him unmercifully as a traitor.

Win and they will come. A national media market isn't going to "give Tennessee love" if Tennessee is losing. Like it has been. For years. (ouch)

ESPN doesn't hate Tennessee. ESPN hates teams that suck and don't give them something to talk about.

As Tennessee becomes more and more relevant, Tennessee will see the love.

And Herbstreit gets it. :D

Yep, Herbie seems to me to have always been a closet Vol fan. However, we've just been so bad that he couldn't, in good faith, pretend that we were any good.
I mean, it is his job to give honest opinions...

This would be the vols biggest upset in history. This bama team for the past 4 years is supposed to one of the best teams of all time, if not the best.

Herbstreet has always been fair in his assessments.

A win at this point in the Vols program would be sky splitting. The thunder will be rolling, thelightning flashing, right through the midst of it, I'd go dashing.

If, and it's a huge if, we can take Yeldon down after first contact, I think this team can shock them.

/ yea I said it

This is the perfect week to face Bama. This team is ridiculously hungry. Coming off an upset of SCAR I can't think of a more opportune time to beat the #1 team in the country.

Despite the outcome I want to see the same team that's came out the last 2 weeks play with effort and intensity... Then we'll see what happens... I think that although Bama's secondary, despite injuries and attrition, are still better than they're given credit for... That is to say that Justin Worley will have to step his game up even more from last wkd... On offense Bama is pretty balanced... They have some of the best receivers in the conference IMO so the secondary will have to come ready to play... Again if our defense plays the way they did last week then we have a chance... Their O Line had some big losses this year so Big Dan and the rest of the D line need to have a huge game... We've got to get McBamabangs rattled so that he can't get thru his progressions...

All of that may sound easy but... we're playing at their house... it really wouldn't surprise anybody if we went down there and got it handed to us

I don't really remember the 82' Bama game but I do remember the 85 Sugar Bowl. I don't think the 98' Fla game is as big of an upset as this would be. In both 85' & 98' the program was pretty much alreadybuilt as we are not there just yet as of right now.

Kirk used to live in Laurelbrooke in Franklin but they built a house very close to the Harpeth Hall school in the Green Hills/Belle Meade area of Nashville about a year ago and he lives there now.

And he's a class act that is great for Nashville & ESPN. I think he does a great job.
