Absurd. That game turned on a fluke INT. Coaches have to win big games to get to the bcs title game. Obtw, he won his first one and hasn't had a team capable of winning the others, until tonight.

I think people are missing the point here. The SEC will forever and always be the best conference in the country. No Conference will be on the SEC level for a while. A big reason has to do with coaching. Look at the coaches in this conference. All of them are solid and could almost coach anywhere in the country. The SEC breeds nfl talent.

At one point the Big 12 had what, four top 10 teams? And then three out of the four of them lost in the bowls, and the fourth one could easily have lost to a 10 point underdog. Pretty sure you can't wet the bed in bowl season and still claim to be the best conference.

This yearly "best conference" stuff is boring anyway. One year they claim it's the Big 12; another they claim it's the Big 10; another they claim it's the ACC. Maybe this year the Pac 10 will find a few advocates. But you know what? It's always the SEC they're comparing the flavor of the month to.

Well put. The SEC is like the barometer conference. Other conferences use wins against the SEC to justify their legitimacy (e.g., WVU vis a vis UGA a couple years ago....WVU fans still talk about it).

SEC is the best conference period.

Their are a lot of media that try to hype there area's
teams attributes for their fan base.

Case in point Florida wins NC and Herbstreit and Corso
Are still hyping USC as the best team in the country.
Give me a break.:banghead2:

That's what people said about Peyton Manning as well......So go figure on that one.

Also Florida's defense came up with a goal line stand to keep them from scoring on all 4 downs, and intercepted it right before half time when they were on there 5 yard line....so don't say they had the better team...Yeah Bradford looked better then Tebow..............the first quarter.

What conference is Utah in again? They might be better than the Big 10 at least...

Umm...it could be worse...it could have been Bama and Saban in the NC instead of the Gators and Meyer!

The Big O reminded me of our O. Get to the one, the six, and the 22 and not anything to show for it.

You have to remember that the people who will say that the Big 12 is the best conference, also probably say that OU should have been in the NCG. Cause you know, head to head battles don't mean anything up there in Big12 country.

I don't think there is any doubt the SEC is KING when it comes to college FB. Three National championships in a row, 5 of the official 11 BCS championships (3 different teams) and 7 of last 16 NC's plus one year Auburn was 13-0 and left out for 5 different teams over that period. The SEC recruits the best players (according to recruiting analysts evaluations), send the most highly drafted players to the NFL, has been fan attendance and support every single year - and they have for decades. And by the way the coaches in SEC as a group far exceed any other conference. Go SEC.
Go Vols!

New NC system suggested -The SEC champ gets an automatic bye to the NC game with a four team playoff of next four best teams (according to BCS type rating system) to select the other participant of the NC game?:dance2::rock:

I hate when I see VOL fans rooting for Florida because of SEC loyality...Do you realize that by them winning it HURT's our recruiting efforts?...I mean gee, Why go to Tennessee when you can go to UF and be part of a winning national championship program...Some SEC fans of other teams are celebrating like their team just did something when in reality, Their team just took a step backwards because of that other teams success...I just don't get it

I have to question how Florida's win will effect UT. Obviously winning a NC helps FL's recruiting, which is bad for us. However, it's good for the BCS pundits to see that, when an SEC team plays for a NC, they win. Should TN be in a situation in the future where it's between them and 3 other teams with the same record to play for the BCS NC, I like to think TN would get the nod because of the SEC's past performance in NC games. However, if FL keeps winning NCs, the players will keep going there, making it tougher for TN to be in that situation. What to do????

The thing about the SEC that sticks out to me is simply it's popularity. The stadiums are huge, the ratings are high, the fans are passionate. Players want to play for that, coaches want to coach for that. We can attribute much of the SECs strength to the fans. You're welcome, SEC. :hi:

Is there now any doubt that the SEC is the creme of the crop?

You mean FL is the creme of the crop?

In a way I guess it's good that the SEC has won the last 3 NC, but it's not good that 2 of them have been won by the gators.

I think the majority of the country agrees the SEC, as a whole, is the best. But Espn has to have something to talk about. And to jump in on the other subject, Fla winning has to hurt us, how often do you hear recuits deciding between TN or OK?

I would say 2 fluke INT's!

I don't see how anyone can tout the SEC and in the same breath bash the Gators for winning the NC. Inconsistent. All UT has to do is win and show coaching that can attain NC level play.

All those Big 12 guys will flop at the next level. Stafford is an NFL qb, big deal.
IMO at least one of them will succeed.

The Big 12 hasn't been decent since Nebraska fell from grace.
They've been decent. Never great, though. IMO the SEC and Pac-10 are the only two conferences in recent history to have great years. You have to look at the Pac-10 posting a 5-0 bowl record in a supposed down year and give some props to that. IMO SEC and Pac-10 right now have to be 1-2 (albeit a distant 1-2) in terms of overall conference strength.

The one thing you SEC guys have always held against the Pac-10, though, was lack of every program's consistency, with the exception of USC. Pac-10 always posts a group of really good teams outside of USC, but it's never the same group. A little different, but when all is said and done solid performance has been there. The only other programs that have been at least somewhat consistent have been Oregon State and Cal.

It's not the coaching. It's the talent. The SEC has not consistently had the best coaches over the last decade. The talent is what has been there.

but, but...we play hard teams...so its ok...our rivals are better than your rivals....blah blah blah...

There are a lot of great Recruits. FL cannot take them all just like LSU couldn't last year. The fact that the last 3 NC's came from the SEC should be a big draw and help all of us. Especially great recruiters like we supposedly have.
