How close is too close?

The proposed mosque/cultural center would not actually be at Ground Zero, it would be 2 blocks away.

How close is too close? 5 blocks (half mile)? 10 blocks (a mile)? 5 miles?

If it were up to you, what would be the outer limit for something that offends the sensibilities of most in the community?

If a person would logically get off at the same subway stop to get to either, then it is probably too close.

It won't matter in 10 years anyway. They are counting on the uproar and the free pub. I say why give it to them.

I say put the thing there.

And right next door should be a NYPD/NYFD bar and on the other side should be a strip club.

I think it is very insensitive to the families who lost loved ones on 9-11 but our freedoms trump sensitivities. Should good Muslim neighbors want to build a mosque so close, I don't think so, but the more I think about the issue the more I've decided we shouldn't block it. I also believe that the families have every right to be upset and those responsible for the mosque, supporters and those funding it, deserve whatever backlash they receive so long as it is within the bounds of law.

saw a story that said there is already a mosque relatively close to the site. Can't find it now but I wouldn't be surprised

so we should be offended by the fact they are moving in so we should make every effort to offend them right back? Doesn't that mean they will all want to kill us?

Not really, but I would find it very interesting if ideas like that were proposed. A lot of the people arguing about the mosque would completely flip their argument.

It's just a matter of how you choose to look at it I guess. You could just as easily say that in choosing to be build a Mosque or what have you at this site, while legal, is probably in poor taste. So a few businesses chosen for their menu selections or choices in female fashion would also be equally poor in taste considering the neighbor.

hey I have no problem with it but just seems a little backwards when Muslims are being knocked for their lack of tolerance.

I guess you're not a true American unless you're offended by something. This is just a little bit of hazing
