How do I get recruited?

If you want to look really good, send some freshman/JV film to recruiters/coaches. It'll get you higher rated/more exsposure. One kid on my team last year did that.

I'm being sarcastic don't do that but seriously go to camps and combines and stuff like that next spring/summer. What position are you/ do you want to play?

Coaches don't look at that.

Oh yes they do. Not all of them, but some of them. Chances they will look at film sent by a HS coach are pretty good. Problem is that MANY HS coaches won't/don't send out film, or don't understand the recruiting process any better than parents. Some just don't care. Some are pros at it. The chances a college coach looks at a video sent to him from daddy, ZERO, ZILCH, NADA.

If a reputable service like NSR sends them video they will more than likely look at it. After the 1st time if they don't like it they won't look at it again when NSR sends the same profile. Hines Ward and Mitch Mustain used NSR. Believe it or not there was actually debate earlier in his HS career of wether or not Mustain was D-1 material. He did end up blowing up to a 5* recruit. But Hines Ward was LARGELY overlooked until UGA gave him a shot.

Don't be afraid to contact small schools. That's a mistake MANY kids make. Not always the kid, but MANY times it's harder for the father to accept that jr. is D-2 material. But you are in a FANTASTIC location to some REALLY good camps. You could be to ATL., Nashville, Birmingham, and Knoxville in a relatively short time. In other words, you are close to major camps.

NSR| National Scouting Report | College Recruiting| Scouting | College Athletics It's a link to National Scouting Report, they have been the most reputable on line scouting service and were the first to do so. It might cost you about $2,500, but if you are gonna do it, do it. Being that you are late in the process a little help might be necessary IMO. They will send your video to every school in the nation 1 time per month. EVERY school, but they will take a list of your top 30 preferred schools and really get after them. That's why as an earlier post said, you have to be HONEST with yourself. If you are D-2 material, THAT'S OUTSTANDING, nothing to frown upon. NSR will also notify the hosts of camps/combines you are attending. Actually they send your entire profile to every school in the country: size, stats, etc., along with your video. You will be given your own NSR websight and can be contacted by a coach if interested. NSR receives requests from college coaches DAILY in various sports for players. The requests suggest the positions needed, GPA/SAT/ACT scores needed, then the scout working your area will send your profile to that coach. So you have the folks down in Birmingham (home office) sending your profile to every school out there, and they are receiving requests daily from college coaches at all levels. So they are working MULTIPLE avenues to get you noticed. There are SEVERAL companies to go with, but National Scouting Report is the best, most reputable IMO. They are world wide, especially in Tennis, soccer, and golf. They have a GREAT success rate at getting kids landed. It will cost, but you will have to spend money REGARDLESS. Spending $2,500 for NSR to get you $100,000 worth of schooling is cheap IMO. But that might be the parent in me speaking. Go to their website and fill out a questionare. Good luck son.....

dont do that..IMO you dont have too if you are good enough...that money would be better spent IMO going to camps and combines

if you are from the state of Tennessee....I will do an article on you perhaps to help you out...you can also send me film....

As I understand it, you have to be cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse in order to even be considered.

Yep

Get this started right now if you haven't already. Its a pain in the 4$$. You will need help from a competent councilor at your school as paper work has to be sent to the clearinghouse. If you have parents that are willing to help get them involved right now and be patient. Once you are registered with the clearinghouse you can advance your cause. If you are not registered with the clearinghouse and you make contact with coaches it is a violation, so be careful.

You need to register through the clearinghouse pronto. They suggest you do it at the start of your junior year. Schools won't recruit you until this is done. It can be done online for $50.

You're welcome.

You're freaking nuts! $2,500? That's a scam! You may as well just post your social security number online. You'll come out just as well.

If you play football in East TN, your chances of getting noticed by major schools isn't very good.

Look into UTC or UT-Martin. Send them highlight tapes.

D-1 doesnt have partial scholorshipts.

D-1aa down through D2, D3 ect do.

You really need to get your high school coach involved and have a serious conversation. Most of the big schools are on guys from their freshman year or sophmore years.

For someone who thinks they have the ability, look into multiple combines and camps. Thats where your info gets out to a massive ammount of people. Make sure your ready for the combines as well and have knowledge about what your doing. While the eyes will certainly be on the prize recruits, plenty of gusy get discovered there.

The best place to really get discovered and my one big regret was not going to more camps. If you think you have the size and speep to be a D1 player, then you can get discovered bigtime at one of the summer camps run by the program.

From my personal experience, by my junionr year I was getting 100's of letters a week and I was far from a big time recruit.

The major challenge though is that you need to hope someone somehwere outside of a particular school notices you. This is when you get on everyone's radar which is the most idea situation. Then they are looking for your tape and watching it, as most of these schools get 100's of tapes.

I think that perception is changing.......if you go back over the past 5-6 years just the Knoxville area alone has had at least one major D-1 recruit.....in most years several...

more and more teams are starting to recruit E.TN...you have several kids in upper e.TN who are D-1

Crowder
Downs
Sensabaugh
CarMicheal @ Greenville, they also have some good looking JRs.

VA.TECh
UNC
CLEMSON
GT
Cincy
Kentucky
Vanderbilt
Tennessee
Ole Miss
Louisville
Syracuse
Duke

all recruit in in the E. TN area.......fwiw

E.TN IMO will represent the biggest jump in recruiting in terms of overall recruiting statewide....IMO its the most untapped resource in the state.....

I disagree.

Throwing a few names out there won't change my mind. East TN HS football isn't a budding recruiting ground. Kids who get D1 offers in East TN are considered the exception not the rule.

1.First you need to be honest with yourself and decide what division of college football you think or your high school coach thinks you can play at.

2. Based on that you need to get a highlight tape and send it to schools that correlate with your level of talent; though you can send it all over if you want. I would advise not only sending a highlight tape but also game film as well, coaches look at that a lot more; and be sure it is one of your better games.

3. Over the summer you need to go to some football camps, they have them at schools all over the county and you really need to go and show your abilities. If you send out your film and you start getting letters of interest try and find out if those schools have camps you can go to.

4. Work extremely hard over the off-season and have a monster senior season, stay in contact with the schools that are showing any interest and make sure your coach is staying active in trying to find a home for you for the next four years. If your coach will take the time to help promote you it will help a lot!!!!

Good luck!

maybe it wasnt in the past......I agree....but times are rapidly changing......the evidence is not something that is just made up.......

you seem like a reasonable person......if evidence suggest otherwise would you believe it? or are you really just being stubborn at this point and not giving E.TN football its just due.

considering the recent trend that E.TN teams always seem to win state titles.........if the talent is that bad...then why do they win compared to Middle and West TN? Talent has to be apart of the equation. Doesnt it???? if E. TN is that inferior in talent surely those schools shouldnt win titles....and they arent winning just because their schools have a bunch of tom landry's on the sideline...even though E.TN has some tremendous coaches.....

the largest population booms in the state have been in Middle and E.TN........
