How Does Offense Change in with Tillman Return?

The offense seems to have gone into higher gear with Tillman out. Now I am a big fan of Tillman but it seems offense is different with him out. Is Hooker distributing ball differently? Is CJH calling plays differently? Or is CJH just bringing in new and different routes he has been saving for big SEC matchups?

You smart people tell me what happens when Tillman is back? It will be hard to watch any of the 3 main receivers who have been playing with Tillman out to have to sit.
I see a lot of 4 receiver sets in our future

Heupel knows what he has in Keyton, especially now, if he didn't before. If Tillman is back and fully recovered, I like our chances of going all the way to the NCS. What I mean is despite having an inferior secondary, the offense will truly explode. Here's how it will work. Tillman & Co. will scare the unholy bejeebers out of both Georgia and a rematch with the Bama-bugs. The offense will score and score with Tillman, Bru, and Hyatt. These guys will run the secondaries ragged. Then periodically, in any given quarter, the Heup will throw a fresh legged and eager to play Keyton in there, and score even more. He will continue to alternate between the two, basically just terrify both teams. What I'm trying to say, with a healthy Tillman back, and a dynamic Keyton rearing to go, we ain't seen nothing yet, neither has our opponents. And just for the heck of it, Heup will at times, send in both at the same time to make a bad situation worse for the other team. You can safely say, we will head our opponents off at the pass.

I think it means this offense is going to be impossible to defend. Who are you gonna double? They're all elite. Are you gonna play man and trust that you can lock down all 3? You know that isn't going to happen.

Really the only hope for opposing teams is to come after Hooker and try to disrupt him but our O-line just played lights out vs Bama and if you do get pressure, Hooker can and will burn you with his legs.

Our RB's are serviceable and have proven they can get a first down, as can Hooker on designed runs.
Our TEs did their part as well. At this point I'd say Josh Huepel can pick his score against just about anyone in the country.

If they go 4 wide wouldn’t that force man coverage with huge mis-matches? If they dropped extras into coverage and the way our O-line has played lately would give the RB’s opportunity to gain massive yardage. Either way we are benefiting

When Tillman comes back that means Kentucky and Georgia will have to cover Hyatt, bru and Tillman while still accounting for fant and the legs on hooker, small and wright. The amount of weapons our offense has is disgusting.

Yeah, Josh will know how to scheme them up.

You'll have trouble blitzing with all that talent. A quick screen can kill a defense. It's going to be interesting.

It’s the game now. Who has a good defense aside from Georgia?? Clemson is supposed to be a top defense and wake score 45 on them.
This if we go 3 wide with a tight end who are braket or double? And bring that safety in the box if you want to. So cover 2 two safety high and our rb's eat all night long! Pick your poison.

Just another bad matchup option for the other team. You could possibly say that Tillman catches that ball where the Bama defender fell down and Keyton stopped running to soon. McCoy was big at LSU, Hyatt vs Bama. With Tillman you just have another tough matchup to worry about and teams usually have at least one secondary player they worry about.

I honestly think our biggest improvements with Tillman are..
1)He high points ball better than anyone on our roster. So when we get into a packed in situation deep in red zone against Georgia or if we somehow get to Atlanta or further and our receivers can't get loose get the ball high and Tillman is our best option.

2)He is a great blocking so with him and Bru either way opposite sides of field on edges we can clear a path for our tailbacks or heck if on same side good luck to a corner and a safety with both those guys clearing a path for our tailback. This asset for our ground game will be huge as our weakness on offense is the ability to salt away a game by clock consumption. Sure we can keep trying to score but every special team needs to have ability to keep the other teams offense off the field and run out the clock and/or sustain a drive for longer than 2 minutes.

Teams will be playing cover 1 on Hyatt and probably cover 2 in our 4 wide sets.

You will see Tillman and Bru doing a bunch of 8-10 yard catches with lots of YAC.

We aren’t an air raid offense either. With the safety and LBs having to cover the middle or the flats, there should be some big holes in our inside zone run scheme.

Agreed. This offense works so well at forcing the D to declare their coverage pre-snap and finding the best mismatch to exploit.

Exactly, our O-line just stepped up to another level. Very excited about our O-line and D-line play. If Tillman is healthy and practicing full speed ahead of the GA game, our Vols win. The way our Line is playing along with the weapons at WR, UNSTOPPABLE.

Some national media guy said that when Tillman comes back this offense will rival the 2019 LSU offense. Sorry I can't remember or find the source.
Yeah it was...i can't remember his name either.
But i remember hearing him saying that.

To add to this, Pitt and LSU both have multiple potential draft picks along their D lines. I have been especially impressed with the O line the last wo games against the likes of BJ Ojulari and Will Anderson. Those are two top 10 draft picks and we held them in check

IMO, the offense will hit a different gear altogether....Hyatt has given film to everyone left on the schedule that we are not 1 awesome WR and others who are capable....The film since Tillman went out has shown that if you double cover one, we will just burn you with another WR....so, our passing game is getting ready to hit a whole new level.

Hooker was getting locked in on Tillman early this year. Can’t say I blame him, but his efficiency wasn’t great. I’d say his injury has made Hooker a better surveyor. The other factor is line play has improved since beginning of the year. Hooker has more time. When Tillman gets back it will open up even more.

I’d just add in the context of matchups it makes it harder for defenses to scheme and easier for us to get ones we like. The beauty of all of our weapons on offense is you can’t ignore anyone. Our pace makes it hard to stay in good position and alignment defensively.

Unless we try to force the ball to him we see a lot of the same. Take the right matchup and exploit blown coverages our pace creates.
