If we go into Bama 6-0 we have already overachieved any realistic expectation. Because there are 4 games in that stretch of 6 that could end in L's . I don't think we will be dogs in any of those games but even Arkansas is not a joke. If we go into any of those 4 games not locked in they could get rough. Arkansas and Oklahoma are on the road. NC State is ranked in the same range as us by most polls. And Florida is Florida. Hate them how you will but on their worst year they will have NFL talent in multiple spots.

We have no idea what our secondary looks like on the field till it gets on the field. The sheer amount of turnover is kinda unprecedented. We lost like 7db's just to transfers not counting the graduations. we brought in 6 guys for those 7 losses. 3 transfers and 2 true freshmen. Of the 7 that went outside of Luttrell there was a lot of snaps we lost. Talent-wise...the 5 we brought in are upgrades. On paper. All 4 transfers came from low levels of competition.

The one that really threw me off is the latest one.. Andre Stewart. He redshirted at Vandy then transferred down to Towson. He recorded 5 games and 3 tackles (no other stats there). There isn't a lot of info on him, was he injured? Not knocking the dude, not a lot of info but what info I see makes me scared as to why we are giving a scholly to him at this point in time? Do we need depth? Makes sense because we brought in less than we lost. I dunno I have a lot of faith in this staff and the guys they bring in this is the first one I have been like HUH? The timing is the biggest thing. It seems like a desperate push to fill a hole? Or maybe they are super happy with what we have and want him for development/depth?

Will we lose a game in 2024? Most of us would say yes, eventually. We will. A few might say no, though.

And how far will we go without an L?

I'm thinking a long, glorious 9 win streak. Not counting on it, we could slip up anywhere prior, but believe it's entirely possible. Go to Athens undefeated. Would be a blast.

Go Vols!
Something other because Georgia ain’t gonna bring us down to earth. I predict we lose a really close one. They’ll start talking about a playoff rematch as soon as the game is over

Lmao there are not 4 L’s there, that’s a ridiculous thing to say. 6-0 is muuuuch more likely than 2-4, and not even close.

You don’t think we’ll be underdogs in any of those games, but you think we’d be over-achieving if we go 6-0? Those two statements contradict each other.

I said 4 games we could possibly lose not that we will lose them all.

No my statements do not contradict each other. We are not likely to be underdogs at this point now...preseason rankings but that does not mean we will be prohibitive favorites. Oklahoma and NC state are likely to be pushes or really close one way or the other based concurrent rankings and depending on how we do in the proceeding games. Secondly for even the best teams opening 6-0 is a lot versus 4 legit P4 schools with 2 on the road. We are a young team with a huge number of new faces at key positions. We return very few full-time starters on either side of the ball. Offense we return what 5 guys that were full-time starters last season. Similar numbers on defense. Pretty much the entire secondary will be guys starting for UT for their first time and a lot of the players in offense and defense will be playing their first games ever for UT. We lack veterans at key positions. Thats a fact.

Nico we all believe in him but he has played very few snaps in College. We have no idea what he looks like day in day out till we get a few days in. He's also gonna be throwing to a lot of new faces. Among projected Starters Squirrel and .. yeah squirrel. He didn't throw much/ever to Thornton or Bru (injuries) the rest of the guys are transfers and freshmen. Webb and Nimrod are probably the 2 WR's outside of Squirrel he has the most chemistry with. If they are starters we are not likely expecting a 6-0 start, no knock on them but its the truth..

So yes if we can open 6-0 we are on track for an awesome season... like 10-2 worst case maybe even 11-1. We ain't beating UGA on the road unless some really weird stuff goes down.. and Bama is gonna be rough no matter how the season goes before that. Thats me assuming everyone we brought in is everything we think they are and Nico is the next coming. I think realistic expectation for Nico is more along the lines of the stats Joe put up last season. We have lost a lot in the backfield and our offense starts and stops with the run. Do I think Nico is a better QB than Milton when its all said and done.. probably. But I do not think he is as good right now as Milton was last year in this offense.. and he has less proven s tools than Joe did. Like it or not its true. On offense and defense. We lost a ton of proven production and brought in a lot of talent.

• We have 6 guys returning on offense, and 4 of them are OL, but we have 8 offensive players with a lot of experience.
• a realistic expectation for Nico is roughly 29 touchdowns and 5 picks because that’s what Josh heupel’s offense have averaged over the past decade plus. It doesnt make sense to assume he’s gonna be worse than average.
• our secondary wasn’t that good last year, and it was atrocious 2 years ago when we went 11-2. We’re plugging guys in that we beat out Georgia and LSU for, we can logically anticipate being at least average.
• We did not lose much talent on defense, Hadden being the only significant one.
• we lost a lot of rushing production but Sampson has proven to be absolutely electric and probably was the most talented back on the team last year. He’s clearly going to be a star in the offense this year. It’s to be expected.

But more than anything, Nico isn’t a pump the brakes kind of young QB. He’ll be at worst a heisman semi finalist.

Wait what we didnt lose much on defense? Outside of James Pearce and the DTs we return very little production at all. Tyler Baron is nothing? He will be in the NFL next year and likely a day 2 pick. Like our secondary or not pretty much every contributing member of a team that made and won a bowl left In fact pretty much the 2 deep of the whole secondary. A good number of guys that transferred out from us are projected starters on SEC rosters and others on D1 rosters. These were not scrubs that left.

We return 3 starters on the oline. The left side of the line will be new. Sampson is literally the only person proven in our backfield and he was third string last year.

Thanks for agreeing on nico lol. He should be expected to basically deliver similar numbers to what Joe put up last season. Any young QB in a an offense with a lot of other unproven pieces is most definitely pump the brakes.

People are projecting based on hopes and dreams. Almost none of the people we are going to be dependent on next season on offense are known quantities in the roles they will be in. Bru (if healthy and recovered), Squirrel, Cade Sprag and campbell are the only known quantities on offense. Everyone else we are just hoping. Throw in Webb and Nimrod if we are going 2 deep and generous.

On defense its a similar story. Pearce and our 2 deep at DT are the only PROVEN quantities. We have not seen Pili play yet but I'll go ahead and count him too. Everyone else is hopes and dreams.

We have a ton of talent and promise. But its a lot to be banking on so many people to step up and do jobs they never have before. Outside of Lance Heard most of the transfers came from mich lower level programs. Talented as they may be its a lot to expect ALL of them to pan out.

I think this is a best case 10-2 team 8-4 is worst case scenario and unlikely. But we have a wife range of possibilities because of the situation with tons of new faces stepping into key roles. This should be the last year of that as outside of DT we should return a lot of young talent in 2025 and be way less dependent on the portal for production. We will be using the portal for depth and filling holes instead of basically having to recruit and entire secondary from the portal.

First, yes, the secondary guys that left were scrubs. Can’t even take you serious now that you’ve said that lol.

Lol I didn’t agree with you on Nico at all. I suggested he would have nearly 50% more td passes. Hell have more rushing touchdowns too. He’s gonna flirt with 40 total.

People are projecting based on intel. You just don’t know as much as you think.

Yall giving Bama way too much credit. They'll struggle next season.
Nah that staff is elite and Nick left them with a dodge charger lol they will be a good team… I still think we beat them in Knoxville tho… it’s time for us to flip this streaky rivalry our way… we were killing them last year n couldn’t finish… team won’t be scared at all but it will be a tough one…

Ahh, I see what's happening, you have projection issues. Best of luck with that friend.

Ahh but you are. Instead of adding any kind of intelligent argument to the conversation you reverted to personal attacks. Which shows your lack of intellect.
I didn't personally attack you. I said I would be a delusional dumbass to predict they will lose 5 games. You think your comments are the sign of intelligence ? Alabama still has a top 5 talented roster. Besides showing a lack of intelligence, you sound uninformed as well

When I say that you don’t know enough to opine on this, that’s not a projection. I’m backing my stance up with stats. You’re arguing with me out of ignorance of the game of football, and because you don’t like being told you’re wrong. To suggest that Nico is going to play as poorly as Milton did last year just shows you don’t have a clue.

“Ahh, i see what is happening.” No son, you clearly don’t.
