How great would it be

My biggest reservation with Butch is that he never has had to completely resurrect a down program before. He has simply continued what Brian Kelly already had established. I agree that so far CBJ is saying/doing all the right things but if you remember, we all thought the same thing about Dooley when he first took over the program. I'm just at the point now where the hype means absolutely nothing to me. I will judge this coach simply by wins. Not by anything else. He has my support. However its not unconditional.

He would rather not have your support.

Central Much wasn't exactly overflowing with wins or tradition...he helped make them relevant in their conference. Same with Cincy...not exactly a FB hotbed at UC...as for 80,000 at the O&W game...forget it...I'm talkin' 100,000!!!

How great would it have been to sign a highly ranked recruiting class?

If you had, maybe you could have gotten 80,000. But some good quotes at a press conference isn't going to do it.

How stupid. A lot of recruits will be there and a big turn out can only help with signing a top class next year. You must have your head up your ass if you do not see the effort of this coaching staff.

lol the average fan still has no idea who carl lawson or davin bellamy are. most have no idea where UT finished in recruiting. fans come when a program starts creating buzz.

If you don't want to support this team or the Tennessee coaching staff, then by all means stay home! Butch did the best he could with the hand he was dealt. The man scrambled to find us top talent, and I understand everyone is tired of finishing 2nd, as am I. But you also have to understand that we were never even a factor with any of those guys until Butch came along. If you want to blame anyone, blame Dooley for his recruiting, or lack thereof. This year will tell us all we need to know about Butch, and his recruiting ability. In the end, I think we'll be happy.

Very similar things were said about Dooley when he got here.

Big difference Dooley had a losing record in a crappy conference and Butch has a winning record in a not so crappy conference. Unicorns and rainbows are a comin'!

Insult me all you like, it doesn't change facts. I stand by my point. If you had signed a highly rated recruiting class, you maybe could have generated enough buzz to get 80,000 there for the spring game. But you didn't.

The reason why doesn't really matter. I think fans have had plenty "working like heck" talk for a long time. My guess is that you'll have to show some real results before you can expect record-breaking turnouts.

Your opinion matters not to me. Go Vols, Go CBJ and Staff!

Well, for one, I'm not coach Jones. So I didn't do anything. I wasn't insulting you either, just simply disagreeing with pretty much everything you have to say. You seem to ignore the fact that Dooley basically stopped recruiting for us mid-season. He knew he was done, and dug himself a hole that he simply couldn't climb out of. Butch did the best he could do short notice. You also ignore the fact that Jones has already pulled 4 legacy commits this early on, one of those being TKjr! If he didn't trust Butch, and his ability to turn Tennessee around, do you really think he would have committed to Tennessee this early? That says a lot to me right there. All I'm saying is if you're a Vol fan then you should support our team and our coaches. We all want the same thing. We all want to be back on top. Hopefully we won't be waiting much longer.

What are you talking about? Red jerseys in practice?

If so the rule is probably to simply take it easy on the QB. Don't lay him out, but do wrap up.

Most pro and college teams don't take anyone to the ground in practice.

they cant tackle the QB in the O&W game. now our qbs will be running the ball.

Gonna be running a spread pro style offense. NOT a read option spread like Florida, Oregon whose qbs run a lot. Just sayin. Cincys qbs ran 3-4 times a game on avg.
