How important is the Kentucky game to you as a Vol fan?

I have a funny feeling that Alabama - being as arrogant as they are - will pick us as their permanent just to thumb their noses at little brother Auburn as if to say they aren’t that important to them. I have seen a whole lot of Bama people say that TSIO matters more to them than AU (but I don’t think they really deep down mean it - gun to their head, they’d pick not losing to AU over not losing to us)…..
But by picking us they remove the nuisance of Auburn every year. And if so, we can remove the nuisance of Kentucky.
To the original question, I’d rank them fourth as the others have said. Don’t care if we ever play Vandy again and hope they wouldn’t be our permanent. Vandy and KY should be permanents.

I had to live there a total of 9 years of my adult life. You don’t know until you’ve lived right in the middle of it. I think that for the most part, all fanbases are the same. Every base has their weirdos and such. There is something about UK that is different. I want to destroy their hopes and dreams. I want them to lose so badly that Bear Bryant’s grandkids demand that his name be removed from having any connection to that trash program . I want to beat them so badly that even Kroger says “it just ain’t worth it, we will actually pay you all to rename it Commonwealth. We will even handle the new signs. “

I know it's been total domination by Tennessee.

Also know it's not near as important to Vol fans as Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.

With the new SEC schedule coming, would it upset you if we stopped playing Kentucky every year?

I'm sure it depends on what generation you're from.

For me, I would hate to not play UK every year.

A big reason is because of my dad and grandpa.

They loved beating UK almost as much as Alabama.

I believe being our most played rival means something.
I don’t want to lose the cucks from Kroger field

Sadly we feel about Kentucky the way Bama feels about us. It's a hard say but it's the way it is.

That doesn't make sense bud

I don’t understand at all why it was discontinued. Football and beer are good friends.

I’m gonna guess you are a little younger. They had a horrible drunk driving tragedy the week of our game and having the beer barrel wasn’t appropriate. And not really sure how we could bring it back even though I wish we could. I doubt the families of those kids, nor those close to them at UK would appreciate/approve.

It’s an odd game. It’s similar to Vanderbilt in that if we win I just feel like we won a game that we were supposed to win and I’m not particularly excited; but if we lose it’s pretty devastating.

Beating KY is like taking out the trash…you’ve got to do it but the celebration is a little muted.
It’s a good analogy, but I still celebrate big time, unless it’s close. In those instances, you are correct.

Losing to them is embarrassing, and it's the next game. So it's very important.
It's a winnable game as well. So win.

In the end, the Kentucky game means very little to me-except on the rare situation that they beat us. Then, it's a travesty.

I came up in the 80s and 90s. As a youngster, beating KY had the same emphasis as beating Candy. I just kind of expected the Vols to win those two games. No questions asked, end of story.

I know KY is much better at FB these days, but my viewpoints are the same. We should never lose to them. If the SEC in their infinite wisdom decide to give us KY and Candy as permanent games I'm cool with it.

You ready to bumble with the bee? I'm just down the road home slice.

I like the accuracy of your size in the gif though.

Either way is fine w me. I’m a bit down that we lost two games prior to UGA. While I predicted 9-3 (with hopes doing better), I thought we would beat FL and have only one loss when UGA came to town.

TN has come a long way in a few yrs, but it’s still frustrating to be out of contention for the East.
We aren't out of contention. Mathematically speaking.

Eh...nowadays Auburn is more of the fans choice as their main rival. Some old heads probably look at us as #1.

This game has trap written all over it. Seems our fan base is more concerned with last week’s game than what happens tomorrow. I hope the team isn’t doing the same. A night game will give their fans plenty of time to tap their ample supply of bourbon. I know it’s Kentucky and we have special juju against them … and it’s a full moon.
