Coach K should have had a better gameplan, or is that different circumstances?
possible replacements for Zo - Pastnor or Mike Brey
My 1000th post goes out to your bro. Well said! How come when a team hits a rough patch all everyone wants to talk about is firing a coach? UT overachieved last year and had some very good wins (UConn, Florida-2, Vanderbilt) and has two good wins this year (Wichita State and Xavier). Good grief people at least wait until after the season to talk about it. He's not even half way through his 2nd Season!!!
Not surei follow the comparison.....coach K lost on a 14-2 opponents home court who is as talented as any team in the county. They had a very good chance to lose that game no matter who was playing. Tennessee will more than likely be 8-7 after Tuesday and struggling to stay alive for the nit.
How about improvement from the players he does have instead of regression...Stokes is playing like Steven Pearl, Mcbee still sucks out loud, Golden aka Issac Hayes plays like a scrub most of the time and is a turnover machine...does that answer your question?
You said once before that any good coach should be about to win even with an injured player. And coach K is the best coach and I just wanted to point that out. Because with Kelly Duke would have won. With Maymon we would have won at least half of the games we lost. Just keep an eye on Duke while Kelly is out and see if they struggle a little.
We will see but I think duke would have lost to NC State with Kelly playing.....I didn't say it had no effect but it is not the cause of us looking as bad as we do and the fact that probably after Tuesday we will be a 8-7 ball club.
Anytime you lose a preseason all conference player, you should expect to struggle. Losing a player tht average d 12 pts and 8 rebounds a game is huge. I don't see how you have not acknowledge that yet?? What happens if Creighton loses McDermott, Mizzou loses Pressey, IU Zeller, Mich Burke, Ohio St Thomas,, etc...

Did anyone else see where Duke lost their first game, playing without injured Ryan Kelly? He's not even their best player but kind of sounds familiar.
Here's the difference.
When did Kelly get injured and how long was it before the loss?
When did Maymon get injured and when was the last time he practiced?
The Maymon excuse should have been gone a month ago at minimum.
Says who? Hubbs and Stokes may very well return. Add in Richardson and Yemi being seniors and i'd say that's a decent core group.
Landry
Hubbs
Richardson/Reese
Stokes/Davis
Yemi
Add in a couple good freshman and I'd have to think that's a NCAA team. The key is a PG, we add one of the PG CCM is targeting in 14 and we'll be in good hands.
But like I've said, looking THAT far ahead and trying to project the roster is impossible.
It makes no sense. Losing a player at the start of the season or in the middle. You are still losing their production that can't be replaced. I can't think of any other college teams that lost their best player and team leader off the top of my head from the start of the season... But let's use the Bulls as an example. They have been without Rose for the entire season. Last year had the best record in the league, this year they are 20-15. The only difference they have the FA to help out a little. Losing the leader to your team does a lot to a team. Ask the Colts when Peyton went down. (Different sport, I know.)

Why dont you try using examples that make sense...I love maymon but comparing him to manning or rose......you are comparing him to the best of the best.....now if you compared him to Jeff Saturday I could get the comparison

Wow hahaha...you crack me up. Manning was the colts leader, Rose is the Bulls, and Maymon is our leader. What don't you get about that?
They didn't take a step back bc they lost rose and mannings leadership.....they took a huge step back bc they lost two players putting up hall of fame type of numbers.....when the colts added a good qb they are back in the playoffs.......maymon is a 12 and 8 kind of player and shouldn't be impossible to replace.
