How long does C. Martin have to show improvement?

How do you replace him without being able to add a player in the fall, when we knew we weren't going to have him all season?

We are avg three less ppg and more reb per game this season....you change guys roles from what's already on the team......just like how we replaced Tyler smiths production when he was kicked off the team.....the problem is that he failed to add a big man(yemi is only ready for about 9 min a game with minimal production), a decent backup pg, or a decent back up wing to take richardsons spot when he replaced tatum as a starter.

Alex poythress averages pretty similar numbers to Maymon at Kentucky this year...take him off the Cats, are they the same team?

They likely have to replace him with a much lesser player, so is Cals recruiting to fault?

I can't wait to hear his response and reasoning lol.

Cal chose to do it and quite successful the one and done way.......yes it will be that approaches fault but I have confidence cal will more than make up for it next yr.

So an injury to a main player and next year is a valid excuse for cal but not Martin?

Are you serious? Can you not see the difference in the approach? He usually has seven total players playing....if Martin brings us in a bunch of one and domes and wins a championship then yes I will give him a pass.

Don't really think the loss of Maymon's production is what's bothering us right now.
McRae has more than made up for it in the last 3 games.
The loss of Golden is what has created the most recent problems.
I'll go a step further. If he returns in form tomorrow night we have a good chance to upset KY, the way they are performing right now.
If you are worried about passion after a loss they've shown none this season.
Beat KY twice and we can still capture the 4th conference spot. Even a split and it's still possible.
Our destiny is in our hands.
Sorry, but liked our offense against Bama. Take away the TOs and we beat them. And that was a road game.

I was actually impressed with it until the end too. I felt like we were in control the whole game.

I just worry because UK usually plays really well against us at Rupp. I went the year they had Wall and Co and I got my pic with Chism as he walked out the tunnel to warm up. Chism owened Cousins that game and was hurt. Man I missed Chism lol. But my point is Rupp was crazy loud that game.

Their pg play has been very similar to ours this year. I think Harrow is picking it up lately though. I do like that their best scorer (Goodwin) will be matchup against our best defender (Richardson). For my sake I hope we win since, I work with all UK fans, and they love to rub a win in.

I'm worried that Wiltjer is going to be hot tomorrow night and knock down 4+ 3's. Do we put Reese on Poythress?

I'm not predicting a win. Do think it will be close.
This is not a typical KY team.
Watched them all season.
Keep the pace slow and don't let them shoot uncontested threes.
They'll fold.

Martin typically only wants to play 7 or 8 as well. Golden, McRae, Richardson, Maymon, stokes, Mcbee, hall and yemi looks alot better than...golden, McRae, Richardson, hall, stokes, Mcbee, yemi and Reese.

For a coach who's philosophy is 10/11 man rotation losing one guy isn't usually huge, but to a coach who prefers 7/8 man rotation it's a big loss.

Golden has to wake up if we want any chance, he showed a few flashes Saturday, hopefully he's 100% tomorrow.

Maymon was the leader of this team, and he also provided golden another ball handler. He brought the ball up the floor as much as golden, and we miss that clearly. He also held stokes responsible IMO, he made sure the effort was there from stokes and was in his ear the entire game.

Neither Pastner (Pastnor) nor Brey is gonna come to UT.

Pastner's coaching is dependent on great recruiting. He is one of the hottest recruiting grounds in the country. UT doesn't have the reputation (yet) to pull in a lot of of the top recruits. If Pastner leaves (or gets ran out of) Memphis, he will either go back to AZ, or rejoin Cal in Kentucky.

Brey's team is going to the ACC next year. So he will be joining the strongest BBall conf out there. So he will not leave Notre Dame. If he were to leave, in my opinion it would be for only two jobs Duke (never gonna happen) or Maryland.

If Zo gets fired after next year, I think the person that UT goes after is Gregg Marshall out of Wichita State. He is the third best mid major coach out there. And before anyone brings up Smart or Stevens, there are only a few jobs either one of them would leave for. Smart - Florida or Wisconsin, Stevens - Duke or Indiana.

I think all of this is a moot point anyway. Zo will have a decent to great season next year. I am predicting sweet 16 loss. This year.....no comment. :ermm:

Another MVC coach ? I think not -- Really sick of all these non big names all the time (yeah and in FB also)

i think u have hit on a point most people miss about maymon. everyone looks at his points and rebounds.....the other thing he adding was another ball handler...i think golden needs as much as stokes does...we also ran a lots of sets through him in the high post... the 3 breakdown at alabama doesnt happen if maymon is on the, jmho.

I agree, but still don't think he's the reason we're struggling at this point.
This team has to find their own identity and very soon.

His absence doesn't help. I don't think he's the main reason at this point, but I don't think there's any arguing that if he were here we'd be playing better.

Of course we would, but that ship sailed way back.
Plenty of time to coach this crew up.
For one thing, I Think our defense could be a lot better.
Need more forced tos, steals and blocks.
Know they can do it because they had a couple of very good defensive stretches earlier in season.
Do think they've improved offensively.

A Cuonzo defense will never forces by turnovers, just the way it is. If there's a lot of
TOs in a game it's because of errant passes, offensive charges etc.

This was supposed to be Maymon's last season, so who did he put on the roster to replace him?
