Why punish a kid for deciding he can do better for himself somewhere else? Or at least try to? Make them sit a year and leave anyway? Why do you want them to hang around to be 3rd or 4th string when they can move on and we can use their spot to improve?

Uhhhh…. Because you need depth to make a championship run.

But of course they want to play so you understand why they do.

Uhhh, none of the guys he listed were going to provide depth or play beyond mop up duty against FCS schools. We need to build depth that can actually play.

Most that leave aren’t playing much and want a chance. Some don’t even get picked up, you don’t hear about them. Now you have a few that move up from smaller schools that want to play tougher competition an excell. That has no impact in the fact that recruiting is very important and always will be. The portal can help you but you have to be selective. It’s not the glamorous gold mine some act like it is. Recruiting and coaching up your talent is still the biggest keys. GBO!

My point was you need 3rd and 4th string. But, yeah, if they’re not going to play, and there’s someone to replace them that’s better, then everything is fine. It’s just too close to remembering the DB situation against AL and our depth chart a couple years ago for me to get excited about players leaving.

These kids have dates. Visits. They will commit when they want to. Not because of a visit, no matter how spectacular it went.

If the question was how many commit this week then zero. But if it’s July then maybe two or three hopefully?
