I think Banks does some stupid stuff some times. Particularly when he goes into soft coverage and "bend don't break".I've seen our defense play. I'm not convinced we win. If we do it'll be very close. Their QB is legit.

That said-
UT is 3rd in the SEC in scoring D. Mizzou is 8th.
UT is 3rd in total D. Mizzou is 6th.
UT is 7th in pass D. MU is 9th.
UT is 1st in rush D. MU is 5th.
A stat that might become really important. UT is second in TFLs. MU is 9th.
I respect Cook. But the biggest difference between him and Milton overall is that Cook throws it more. Milton has run for more yards.
But... most importantly the last 3 games. One guy has come on. One guy has gone cold.
Cook has faced USCe, UK, and UGA. His completion % for those games is 57%. And USCe is really bad. He is averaging only 197 ypg over that span. He's thrown 3 TDs and 3 INTs.
Milton's worst game was 68% vs Bama. UConn isn't much if any worse than USCe. He went 17/20 vs that same UK team. He's averaging 251 per game and only played half against UConn. JM has thrown 5 TDs and no INTs.
That said, the most likely deciding factor in this game is rushing O and D... and UT is superior at both. No one has figured UT's run game out really well. MU has been particularly clueless. In the last two games, UT has rushed for 458 and 264 vs MU with well over 7 ypc in both games.
The only team that has really controlled UT running the ball and especially of late is Bama... MU doesn't have Bama level players or coaching.
The DBs aren’t awful. Banks has a tendency to play the secondary loose. I can’t tell you why but a lot of the criticism that Hadden took related to the same thingIt's not our offense I'm concerned about. Our corners are awful, and Cook is a good runner. They played well against Georgia. They are better than Kentucky and we struggled a bit with them. On top of that we've been performing poorly on the road.
He plays the secondary loose because he typically brings a ton of pressure from the front 7. The average fan hates that strategy because they see a lot of pitch and catch. What the average fan doesn't see is the game inside the game. This strategy has led to us being #2 in the nation at giving up the fewest big plays. We also hit the QB at an Elite level. It forces offenses to have to lineup and go play after play vs an attacking front. At some point in those long drives, the offense will make a mistake that kills the drive. It's just too hard to go play after play in football. U need chunk plays. In our 2 losses we gave up explosives in both games. In the 7 wins we eliminated explosives. The DBs aren’t awful. Really? Who says? UT has played 3 true road games. They sucked in the first half vs UF but again D game plan. They had a bad half after a great half at Bama with a big assist from the officials to Bama. They beat the team most similar to Mizzou plus Faurot is the least advantage of any of those
PS today is opening day of deer season in MO. A lot of their rowdiest fans will be where I am
The problem with that strategy is, if our DL doesn't get pressure, we're in a TON of trouble. But you're not in a ton of trouble, u simply make the tackle. This is what has lead us to being a top 20 scoring defense. Idk if u ever played in a Secondary or not but it's basically quaters. Keep everything in front of you and make them go play after play. It's just not sustainable for any offense to do in football. At some point 1 of those 11 will make a mistake and the drive is over when it happens. The problem with that strategy is, if our DL doesn't get pressure, we're in a TON of trouble. I understand that idea. It tends to fail specifically because it undermines the effectiveness of the pass rush. You can’t get home if the qb always has a quick wide open target. He plays the secondary loose because he typically brings a ton of pressure from the front 7. But it actually doesn't undermine your pass rush because u can still fool QB's and take away pass lanes. That helped in creating turnovers last week. The chunk plays is exactly what beat us. Bama didn't get going until they hit that deep ball. You can csll it busted coverage or whatever, it still happened. That opened their entire offense. That changes everything on defense once u give up an explosive. There are pro's and cons to every coverage. U can get up and press to give your pass rush a chance to get home but it only takes 1 guy to get a good release and it's a bomb TD everytime. It makes more logical sense to force a offense to make play after play with no mistakes.I understand that idea. It tends to fail specifically because it undermines the effectiveness of the pass rush. It wasn’t just chunk plays in those games if you take out short pass yacs. And again they blew a coverage vs Bama but not because they were in tight coverage.
Yeah. I hate it but not at all because I don’t understand it
