You know, there have been plenty of idiotic statements made by both sides but this one hit home

"He's (McCain) trying to suggest that a plumber is the guy he's fighting for. How many plumbers you know making a quarter million dollars a year? I've got a different set of priorities. I'll give a middle class tax cut to 95 percent of all taxpayers," said Obama.

I know plenty Mr. Obama and it's obvious you know very little about what you're taking about. Now I don't know if this Joe guy actually makes that but there are plenty of others doing it with their small business (especially plumbers). A good Roto-Rooter tech could clear 6 figures pretty easily in a larger market. Now imagine the guy who owns his own shop employing more than 3 trucks (which includes most of the companies out there). He's so out of touch it's ridiculous. I can give him some phone numbers if he really wants to correct his thinking.

OK, my rant is over you can all go back to your regularly scheduled threads. :)

No problem. I am all for any anti-Obama rant! I'll add I prefer not to ask what people make. But I am sure Obama is all for knowing how much everyone makes.

Richest uncle I have has a fleet of 40 plumbing trucks and I don't know how many staff master plumbers. Dude knocks down some serious coin.

My mom sent me a text with what he said and asked if I had an opinion and it set me off :)

most of the stuff he talks about have no specifics and it takes some reading to figure out how much smoke he's blowing. This is just something I happen to know plenty about and know he's dead wrong

yes, i'm aware. i just don't think the obama quote was in reference to anything other than "plumbers" (whatever that means)
he knew the conversation was about the business owner. The original question was about owning business, not plumbing.

It was still after he met Joe.

I'm aware. Not everything Obama says from now until election day needs to be tailor made to fit Joe the Plumber's business classification. This is politics. Obama was delivering a stump speech. He addressed Joe's concerns quite thoughtfully to his face in the original conversation and again last night during the debate.

so you thought today's commentary about McCain's plumber was coincidental.

The weakest Obama has ever looked was responding to Joe with the lame response about we're better when everyone does well. Last night he sounded like a lying socialist when babbling about taking a "little" from those who can afford it.

He keeps that up and that remains the topic, he might let McCain back in the race.

Coincidental? Not at all. In fact, it was quite calculated. He used the plumber line in his speech today as a way to pivot back to broader economic picture. It was done quite well... and yes, it was at the expense of poor joe the plumber.

yes, America has forgotten his "everybody" comment because he so gracefully pivoted.

How was any of this "at the expense of poor Joe the plumber?"

Nice reporting by ABC Nightline tonight, apparently:

Joe is not actually a "Joe". His real name his Samuel Joseph. Aghast. This guy is a complete fraud.

Also, he is not a licensed plumber, not sure that restricts someone from buying a plumbing business. But hey, show up the Obama and this is what you get.

it's interesting how quickly the Obamassiah's minions in the press found out every detail of Joe's life yet remain completely disinterested in finding out more about Obama's relationships with Ayers, Rezko, Khalidi, Odingo, etc.

I guess that's what happens when you have a media that's completely abdicated it's sworn duty to remain objective.

exactly. it is amazing how the ruthless the democrats are. we knew everything about palin in 2 weeks. now we're hearing all kinds of stuff about the plumber, and don't tell me that republicans do it to, they don't go out and destroy people that talks against republicans.

This is just unbelievable.

it turns out Joe Wurzelbacher isn't a licensed plumber after all. Oh, and his real name is Sam

The way the media is in the can for Obama is just unreal. His middle fricking name is Joseph you morons. Also, when did anyone in the debate say anything about him being licensed or not? These people are sickening.

the whole issue is that we wants to buy the business he works for. that would put him making 250k. he doesn't have to be licensed to work but his boss has to be licensed apparently. it's really funny how the plumber's union has attacked this guy. just wait, he's going to see dead cats in his front porch soon. unions are just thugs.

wrong. The owner need not have a license, but the guy pulling permits and actually doing the work has to be licensed.
