Count me in that group.

UT can just win the SECT and shut up the experts. Don't give the committee a chance to screw UT. Even if they should get in after 2 wins.

Lol surprise surprise

So UK needs to win the SECT to get into the dance in your opinion?

Eesh, I hate that MTSU lost. I can't imagine, looking at blind resumes, that the committee leaves them out. 19-1 in conference, and a top 25 RPI (I think, not sure about their RPI), I think they are in. One less bid. We need to beat Bama's ass like they stole from us!!!

MTSU forced to play waiting game following Sun Belt Tournament disappointment | Nashville City Paper

This article mentions an RPI of 59 after their loss. I am really supprised their RPI is that good. The best team they faced all year was ole miss and Fl.

If I was on the committee it would be hard to leave a 28-5 team, with a 19-1 conf. record, and a 59 RPI.(although this maybe went up after loss to Belmont yesterday.) Scenarios like this one are what we need to avoid this week, with the addition of us winning two next weekend. Go Vols!!!

1. Its not so much that we need the win to get in, but if we lost to either MSU or SC that would be a bad loss to end the season and would not look good on the resume.

IMO win Thursday and we are locks, don't care what Lunardi says.

I just dont see it, do you? They beat Ole Miss. and Vandy. Thats it! And I dont see the quality of competition in that conf. to justify the ranking either.

Oh well...

Initially I thought they'd get in, but consensus seems to be they wont...seems they needed to probably make conference final to have a chance.

Me too, but UVA has a legit shot of beating NC State, IMO. Baylor over Okie State too.

There are a lot of things that could happen.

Good call. As fortunate as we were after the GA loss, we were just as unfortunate after the Mizz. win.

Kansas couldnt take care of Baylor. Maryland couldnt finish VA. MTSU lost in their conf. tourney, taking up another spot since someone else will get the auto.

But if we win a couple more it doesnt matter what other scenario's play out. Maybe just one more...

Nothing is impossible, especially after I saw VCU maybe worst resume ever to get in 2 yrs ago, but having said that...MTSU's loss means nothing imo...they aren't getting in.

Edit: 2011 VCU didnt deserve a berth-made f4 so just goes to show anything is possible- but uab that year was the worst choice ever I was thinking of

SEC

When: Wednesday (first round); Thursday (second round); Friday (quarterfinals); Saturday (semifinals); Sunday (championship)
Where: Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
Bracket and results

The favorite: Florida hasn't exactly been invincible, suffering losses in its past three road games. But the Gators are still the most stable assembly in the SEC. They're top-five in adjusted offensive and defensive efficiency per Pomeroy. They're shooting 48.5 percent from the field, a mark that is ninth in the country. Their starting rotation features speed (Kenny Boynton is averaging 12.5 PPG), size (Patric Young is averaging 10.5 PPG) and versatility (6-foot-10 forward Erik Murphy is shooting 46.6 percent from the beyond the arc). Florida is still the best team in the conference.

The top challengers: Well, take your pick. Kentucky has won four of seven games without star Nerlens Noel. Archie Goodwin scored 16 points in a critical win over Florida on Saturday. John Calipari's young bubble team has matured through adversity. Few teams in the conference have matched Tennessee's late momentum, though. Jordan McRae (16.2 PPG) has led the Vols to eight wins in their past nine games. Missouri -- when Phil Pressey (11.9 PPG, 7.1 APG, 1.8 SPG, 3.7 TPG) is focused, of course -- can beat any other team in the conference. Anthony Grant's Alabama team has the SEC's No. 2 scoring defense (59.7 PPG allowed) and one of its best players (Trevor Releford is averaging 15.6 PPG). Ole Miss (76.3 PPG, first in the conference) recovered from a rocky stretch by winning four of its past five games. Marshall Henderson (19.7 PPG) leads the conference in scoring.

My pick: The field includes a multitude of desperate teams, but Tennessee has responded to the pressure as well as any other team in the SEC. Cuonzo Martin's program has also played with a vigor that it had lacked in the first portion of the SEC season. The Vols are determined right now, and they're not interested in giving the selection committee a chance to seal their fate. They'll decide that by winning the SEC tournament.

Tennessee needs one win, if any.

You look like a genius right now.

Was it not you who went on the record and predicted we'd make the tourney back when we were like 11-9? Purely as an Eff You to the Legion of Miserables, who were in rare form at the time?

Do I remember correctly?
