Can one of you recruiting experts help me out with how many more players Dooley can sign for the 2010 class. I know our roster is thin, but my understanding is that we can only sign 28 per class. Anyone know where we are with the numbers?

Yes, we can, USC transfers would go under the total number, not the 2010 number. Were a good amount under that limit

good info. I didn't realize transfers didn't count against the class. Do Juco transfers count though?

Also, if there is anybody who can give some specific numbers, that might help avoid some confusion.

I know we are well below this total number, but I also know we can only sign so many at a time. That's really more of what I'm looking for.

I'm pretty sure we can bring in as many transfers as we want until we reach 85. I could be wrong though

We can have 85 on scholarship I believe. We are well below that

Yup, 85 total, but can only sign a max of 28 recruits a year (assuming there are 58 or less returning players).

These transfers aren't recruits, and don't count to the 28 number. In effect, we are plugging the shortfall on our roster, which we otherwise couldn't do for a few years.

That's what I was trying to get at. Well said IP

That's what I understand. And it doesn't count against the 28 number of scholarships we can pass out per year (assuming we have that many spots open for the next year, which unless we get like five more transfers, we will.

This is a great way to replenish some depth.

Do you know about Juco's? Do they count as recruits?

How many "recruits" do we have in the 2010 class?

I think you can sign 28 a year but you can have as many transfers as you want

MHF said something about these guys not counting towards the 2010 class. they count towards the class they were originally in, which he said we could get 9 total (8 more now). It is assumed that they will all be from the 2008 class because the SEC does not allow one year transfers (such as mustain), but this can likely be appealed so who knows. dont expect us to get that many, but 2 or 3 is not anywhere near impossible.

jucos count with the class. the most you can sign in a class is 25. early enrollees allow it to go up to 28. 85 is the limit of scholarship athletes we can have on the team.
