That's the point dumba**

Which point? I think the real reason was because that was the only way to ensure a quick and easy sellout. Expectation is that home team fans would just show up because that is what they normally do. The key factor, given that each team is guaranteed I believe 4M, is to generate dollars.

The basketball tournaments in their early days did the same thing - but when the revenue potential increased, they went to pre-determined somewhat neutral sites. Will they do this eventually for the CFP? I don't know. I do know that games played on a somewhat neutral site are a better indication of which team is the better team.

What will be interesting is to see how 3 to 4 games will impact attendance, especially with some of the dollars that could be involved. I'm hoping the Vols go all the way - but I have already made my choice around which games I will attend should they continue until the end. One will be this first one, and the other will be the last one.

Had this first round been at Neyland, I would more than likely have also considered California or Texas.

Man I hope it’s a lot… I’m coming in from Texas and gonna be by myself, and I assume I’m gonna be surrounded by OSU fans in the section I’m sitting…
I appreciate fans like you. I go to alot of games by myself since my dad passed. I have friends that never would go to a game alone and especially one in enemy territory.

Everyone going, wear Pantone 151 c Orange!
I get it but over coats, there aren't as many people with those. Shirts are one thing but coats UT orange are harder to come by. If the forecast is saw it might be 15 degrees with 8-10mph wind. People will be bundled up in whatever colors we have lol If I can get a ticket I plan on like 3 layers and trying to face my orange hoodie over and a tobogan that's orange and white but if it doesn't work then I'll be in black because I am not freezing for 4+hours outdoors.

Doing the same. Asked my Dad but he’s in his 80’s and health isn’t optimal. He politely declined. Gonna be solo in the stadium but thinking of him the whole time, thankful he introduced me to this wonderful team and university nearly 50 yrs ago. A lot of memories over that span. Maybe we have one more….

High-quality, cold-weather gear in Tennessee orange is, indeed, becoming frustratingly difficult to find. Fortunately, I stocked up on it before moving out here to Montana. Out of curiosity, does anyone have opinions or, better yet, personal experience with Colosseum brand regalia, compared to Nike or Columbia gear?

Hmm. Plenty of hotel rooms available and plenty of tickets available. Are we really buying them up at the rate we’d like to think?

It’s great to be in the playoffs but you better win that first round game! Typically most, if not all, of the 12 playoff qualifiers would be playing in New Year’s Day/Eve or weekend bowl games,i.e., the top tier prime time bowl games. With the playoffs, the 4 losing teams are done for the year before Christmas; those 4 teams missing what is traditionally college football’s biggest day. If those 4 teams happen to be the visiting teams, their fans were only allotted a minimum number of tickets (3500)vs the 20-30,000 typically available to each team for a New Years. So fewer fans get the chance to celebrate a great regular season or plan a Holiday vacation to a bowl game in mostly nice weather locals. Most teams brag about how many straight years they have been to a bowl game, but do 1st round games count as a bowl game?
None of this affects the 8 teams that make the second round but those eliminated in the first round are losing New Years Day exposure, fan participation and probably a lot of money.

I think most of the stadium will be bundled up in heavy dark coats. Some smart entrepreneurs should make some 3Xl light plastic coverings in Orange and Scarlett that fans could wear OVER their coats. Sell them for $5 right in front of the Stadium 🏟️.

Not exactly the right orange, but dollar store ponchos are usually available in orange.

The playoffs is paying out more and the primetime exposure trumps any of the bowl games this year.
