How much of the Florida "curse" is because its usually the first SEC game of the year?

Padded stats against bad teams. Pass protection matters too and we are not good at it

I'm pretty sure everyone plays bad teams. Not many people have played 3 power four teams away from home thus far. And yet we still rank 5th in rushing. I'll repeat, if we're bad then whose good?

We had about 4 games where our backups played more than the starters didn't we? Lol.

I went to the Swamp when Kiffin was coach. Even wore a Kiffin shirt after he accused UM of recruiting malpractice. Got more than a few jeers from the home team crowd.

You are right that we didn’t have the horses but the team played very hard. We left thinking Kiffin was going to do alright for us (same feeling when he lost to Saban in the Mt Cody game).

What a wild ride that year was.
Kiff screwed the pooch when he left. Screwed us royally as well. But he is still yet to recover. His next stop probably gets him back this level. But, it's been 15 years and his dad isn't with him anymore.

The curse is real. Just look at 2015 and 2017. In 2015 their QB killed us and then the next week he got disqualified for steroids if I remember correctly. That's just the Gods of football being against you for whatever reason.

We didn't win a game in the SEC in 2017. Were we cursed against Vanderbilt and Kentucky too?

Also in 2015 after beating us Florida beat an Ole Miss team that just beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa by 28 points. They played great football that year against other teams as well. Was Ole Miss cursed cause they got their butts kicked in Gainesville after beating Bama?

I don't believe in curses.

That 15 game is the most pissed off I think I've ever been at a football game.

Lulz. You just keep on doing you dude!

You act like other teams aren't playing bad teams as well. We've played a tougher schedule than damn near everyone in the top 10. Only Georgia and Alabama have played a tougher schedule thus far and that's mostly cause they've played each other. We've got a win over a ranked Oklahoma team on the road. Not many teams have ranked wins over a higher rated team. Once again only Alabama and Georgia have a ranked win better than our win at Oklahoma. Also we've played 3 games against power four teams away from home. I don't think anyone else in the top 10 has played 3 games away from home already this early in the season.

Once again if we've played a soft schedule, whose played a hard one outside of Georgia and Alabama?

You have no idea what I'm acting like. You've obviously misunderstood my intentions. I'm not interested in being a part of your shenanigans so carry on.

Florida, Fla State and Miami are surrounded by a hot bed of talent. It should be that almost any decent coach should win at any of those schools, especially pre NIL. However, that’s not been the case.

With Spurrier gone, we all thought we would run the conference, especially with Zook. But, we saw different.

I don't think the true "Florida curse" stuff actually started until the 2010s. Spurrier definitely had Fulmer's number, but let's face it - he was a better Xs and Os coach than Fulmer and I think intimidated him.

We actually won 4 out of 7 contests against them from 1998 to 2004. During the Urban years, they were head and shoulders a better team than us. This whole "Why can't we beat them even when we're evenly matched or when we're better than them" stuff didn't start until the Muschamp years and has continued ever since.
I’ve always thought the 2002 season actually began the curse.

However, like all Vol fans, I thought Mannings second year (‘05) was going to be our year; ‘96 and ‘97 as well.

91, 95, 96, 97, 99, 00, 02(my Lord), 06, 07, 14, 15, 18, 19, 23 were utterly insufferable! And that's a lot of suffering. Most of the other losses were sheer team quality difference.

I remember during the Fulmer years thinking the Vols would have fared much better later in the season ….. no lie
100%. We have one data point 2001, and it went very well for us. First win in Gainsville since 1971 and it wasn't as close as the final score would indicate.

As expected. When met with facts you can't refute you run away rather than admitting you were wrong.

Most of those are road games or in the case in 2014 featuring a terrible Tennessee team. Other than 1996, there's not a single home game we lost as a good team to Florida. And remember in 1996 Florida won the national title. No shame in losing at home to the eventual national champion.

Winning on the road is hard. Especially if the opponent is halfway decent. You shouldn't really expect us to win in the Swamp unless we're really good and Florida's really bad. If both teams are even the edge usually goes to the home team.

I personally find the whole die-hard fan thing stupid. You're unnecessarily causing yourself emotional distress over a situation which you have no control over.

I am a fairweather fan who prefers his mental well-being. So I only invest myself in teams when I know they'll be good. So instead of resenting me you should view me as a canary in the coal mine. Whenever I'm around it means Tennessee football is good. When I'm not around it means Tennessee football stinks.
Stupid you say ?
I view you as a clown
