The Chatt Times, in their weekly position grades, said Hurd was more effective than Lane last week. Now Butch gave him more carries yes but his average per carry was less than Lanes.
I didn't get to pay close attention with how the backs played especially while pass blocking or running routes. Did I miss pn how Hurd played better or was the Chatt Times wrong?
Not that it matters but Im wondering if its Hurd performing or Lane losing the atarting role?
Of course with our Oline play Jamaal Lewis couldn't run the ball effectively right now

Not quite accurate IMO.If butch goes 5-7 this year his seat deserves to be warm. I have full faith in him but 5-7 means zero progress with coaching has been made. No excuse to not make a bowl.
Not quite accurate IMO.
Last year was salvaging what he could with what he had.
New staff for the team, not all the players needed for the schemes, injuries, and inexperienced QBs 2nd half of the season, etc.
This year youth and inexperience, lack of depth, another brutal schedule, some OL deficiencies, etc. Seems to be a recipe for the same to me, but; I see smarter play, aggressiveness, better conditioning and speed, no quitting by players, etc. That's progress and I would expect even better results next year with recruits in critical needs areas.
9/6 Arkansas State
ATT YDS AVG
23 83 3.6 Hurd
13 54 4.2 Lane
Personally they were both effective regardless of the numbers. After watching the off playback video Freak posted, both players results were stymied by some blocking assignments not executed properly.
Not quite accurate IMO.

Just curious, what's your role on the coaching staff?
What do you mean "a wash"? If Butch misses a bowl game this year his seat gets warm next year.
I wouldn't consider that a reason to pack it in and call the season "a wash", before he even loses a single game.
Lane has had better numbers all year but they are giving Hurd the lions share for some reason. I'm ready to see what Derrell Scott can do.
