How will History view GA?

That depends on which hospitals you are talking about, of course. Mount Sinai Brooklyn was overloaded, as was NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn.
I think part of the problem is a NY based media probably projected the dire situation in NYC to the rest of the country. I’m not dismissing other hot spots, but the second it got close Manhattan, the situation got put on blast.

Roughly 10-15 hospitals out of thousands were overloaded. And that’s because they were not prepared

Wait .. what does unsolved mean ? And if you don’t know why are you still using it in a mathematical equation to determine what the rest of the country could look like ? This is why we have a problem narrowing this crap down , we continue to use numbers that are maybes, possibles , could be’s in order to push a narrative one way or the other . Math is an exact science, same with causation of deaths .
Probably theory raises its hand and asks for recognition.

God I hated that class.

Which is why what works in podunk mid western America and when it makes sense to reopen it back up is totally different than NYC and each governor needs to manage their own state’s situation like they are. And everybody needs to knock off the one size fits all for the country BS. Look at the entire state of TX as compared to NYC and New Jersey. It’s time for Texas to get off their asses and back into the office.

You're citing one (unnamed) account of 2nd hand information as anecdotal evidence that someone else's conclusion is ignorant? I don't know... you haven't really told us much.

I trust him since he's on the front lines. If he said the opposite, i would believe him too. You libs are always preaching that we listen to the front line pros, he told us directly what he's seeing in atlanta. I guess we can only to listen if it fits your agenda.

The whole purpose of the shutdown was to “ flatten the curve “ that’s it , it was never to save live but to keep the healthcare system from being overran . Flatting the curve logically will lead to a long time frame because it stretches it out but mathematically the numbers should be about the same from one end of the spectrum to the other . Since we have done exactly what we set out to do “ flatten the curve “ and the hospitals are actually ahead of this to the point of laying off workers , it’s time to open back up . Have you noticed that nobody is talking about flattening the curve anymore ? Nobody !
This is basically the same thing I had said in post #57 this morning. @DC Vol argued with me... but gave you a "like". LOL.

What are you confused about?

My point was the system was not overloaded (fine if you want to credit everyone staying home) and the mortality rate turned out to be much lower than initially thought.

I thought the point I was making to you was it’s time to stop this. The peak has passed us. It also seems to be the point that reb was making.

Regardless of what the numbers say, before the election, there will be states that attempt to lock back down. I'm sure there will be a pattern to it. Residents of these states need to put an end to any such attempt real fast.

Is the walking dead stuff fairly cool or a waste of time?

I went to see it. If you are a fan of the show it is pretty neat. Basically Senoia Main Street is Woodbury from the show. The museum is kind of neat to see the prison mockup and all the actors have signed the wall.

The Alexandria set is there as well, but you can’t get into it. The walls from the show are really used to keep people out. There are a couple of places you can kind of look down into the Alexandria set. See the windmill, buildings, etc.

GAVOL is right, it’s a tiny town, but it’s cool to watch clips of the Woodbury and Governor scenes then walk in the actual place it was filmed.

Senoia is a next level small town. You can drive its streets In about 90 seconds.

It takes longer to complete a lap on Senoia Raceway. lol. Griffin was my stomping grounds till I finally left in my 30's. Senoia is probably every bit now of what it was in high school.

Movies seem to be attracted to that area on occasion. Middle GA as a whole gets a lot of film attention. There were parts of Driving Miss Daisy in Griffin's old town (all the driving scenes). As well as some scenes from Mockingjay Part1 at one of the old abandoned textile plants. Some 30 movies and/or series episodes have had scenes filmed in Griffin.

Yeah, when we went the movie industry was building some studios in that area. There is a lot of housing being built around it as well. Not sure exactly where it was but when we went to see Senoia we also went by the new housing and studios being built, all was within an hour, so it isn't far away. Locals are expecting it to grow in the near future with Hollywood establishing a presence.

@GAVol I know you've said you're out of county, but how are people reacting to the mayoral election. Seems like an upset.
Not really an upset. Miller was the front runner for a long time and has done a great job gathering endorsements. Whidby is just flat out shady and everybody knows it.

Keep in mind, Macon-Bibb consolidated about 8 years ago, so the dynamic is probably a little different than you remember. Still majority black, but it’s not enough to rely on black/white turnout.

I may have to check that our someday. I took my mom and her mother, and multiple girlfriends (separately) to Juliette for the Fried Green Tomatoes experience.

I knew things had changed some but it seems like people still fleeing the county. Every time I go back I am tempted to buy a house near Mercer because they're so cheap, but then I talk to people about the local scene and figure I am better off giving my money to the Hiltons.

I do not believe you. I watched a video of a person who lived in Brooklyn, right in the thick of the induced panic, who had just watched a thing on national network news saying "the hospitals in NYC are overflowing!!! People are stacked in the halls!!!" And they left their apartment, walked 2 or 3 blocks down the street...and began filming. The street in front of the hospital was blocked off, cones had been put out to form an orderly line for "heavy traffic" to get into etc etc....

There was nobody there. No line outside. No crowd in the ER waiting room, no abundance of patients anywhere...nobody was there except nurses and doctors. Nobody. They scared people who believe the MSM so badly, that people cancelled routine procedures. Hospitals cancelled all elective surgeries. Sick people with other ailments besides Covid were too scared to go get help for fear of infection with ",this deadly disease".

It was all complete BS. Period. 100% bullcrap. There never was a crowd. No triage ever took place. The navy brought in a floating hospital with 1100 beds and kept it there for weeks. They treated something like 22 total patients before leaving. Doctors set up free tent clinics in Central Park. Ghost town. Sadly, the few that were sick were INTENTIONALLY sent to nursing homes to infect other elderly and push up death counts. FACT. only a complete moron would send infected people to nursing homes where the whopping 1% of society that actually IS vulnerable to Covid just happens to be trapped and unable to leave...hmmm

Also, as has been discussed many times and even admitted by doctors....in order to inflate fatalities and get more $$$$ from the Feds, these hospitals intentionally do not separate people who died WITH covid from people who died FROM covid....which is a HUGE difference. 80 year old lady who has had heart problems for 20 years has a massive heart attack and dies...AFTER she has been treated and ruled dead of a heart attack, she happens to test positive for the antibodies to a coronavirus (the tests themselves said this could be ANY coronavirus...or rhinovirus, the common cold) guess how she got counted??? As a covid death. Gets the hospital thousands more $$$....also inflates the death count in an attempt for the state to get billions more from the Feds.

This entire debacle has been a complete embarrassment to the media, the Dimwits who obviously want the country shut down as long as possible because "orange man bad" , the WHO who is in bed with China, and every single chicken little wearing their mask while they drive around alone in their cars looking for OTHER peoples lack of social distancing and submission to the "woke" mob. Alarmists and those who try to induce panic in the ignorant masses are terrible...and should be treated as the buffoons they actually are.
