How will the 2016 class differ from 2015?

I highly doubt we only sign 20. My educated guess is that we will see just as many players leave the program next year as we did this year.

Yeah, this time of year people usually guess lower than the actual number. I am guessing 24/25. There will be attrition. That is just a part of it.

LOL I see what you did there

I don't think anybody else did..... Wow.

Fans like to get the skilled positions but there needs to be 5-6 linemen minimum in every class. I think the staff will have a board that fills immediate needs and future needs and stays within those confines more or less unless there's an elite exception that wants to come.

Can't skip a year without signing any linemen. Don't need to pile up skilled guys in one class. Spread it out. Recruit a football team every year. And at Tennessee we do give scholarships to the kicking game specialists. It's who we are.

Butch is very ambitious about getting the right players in his program. He will do what it takes to build a "culture" (as he likes to call it) as he sees fit. That could very easily include 10 more players dropping from now (due to grades, early graduation/NFL departures, being asked to transfer, transferring on ones own, injuries, quitting, etc.) until NSD next year. Plus there is always the possibility that we offer 1 or 2 of our walk-ons a scholarship.

The number will always be in flux. Butch and staff probably won't even have a good idea until fall camp rolls around and they start seeing who is cutting it and who isn't. Also that's about the time you start identifying the ones who may possibly want to transfer. All these factors go into the #s on the big board.

As for how next class will be different, I think one thing Butch and staff will put an emphasis on in this class is SPEED. You may even see us recruiting a few rangy athletes who can play WR/DB, as those two positions are going to be very, very important going forward in 2016.

Gonna be fun to watch next year we have a lot of young elite talent taking notice of Tennessee and Butch Jones.

We definitely need one QB for 2016, preferably a top 30 guy. If I were Butch I'd start my search in North Carolina.

"We only get players out of North Carolina because we cheat." -Says every UNC fan every time we pull a kid out of North Carolina. Which we do often.

Z said an hour ago there will be 4 WRs and more RB depth. Subject to wash outs and early outs to the NFL.

The names will change and they won't look the same. I honestly think that a lot if not most of the positions will remain the same. IMO JMO TIFWIW

Obviously the numbers have to change for next year, right? Do you think the staff slows down this year when it comes to accepting commitments? With early playing time not being as possible as it was a year ago, how does the sales pitch change?

I'm excited to see us take the next step. I wonder if we have to win 8 this year to keep this momentum going.

There will be different names.... that is all.

Too much time between now and then to know. We could still have attrition next season that changes what our needs will be for next year.

But we already have Kendall for 2016 are you seriously saying we take more than on QB in a class?

I actually put my projected class for 2016 at 20. I'm expecting some transfers obviously. I'll probably add Oden at QB as well at some point as that position clears out a bit.

I see Oden as a distinct possibility as well. I'm not one who blows air about in state prospects a lot, but Oden could rocket up the rankings (already a unanimous 4 star and rated QB prospect).
