Howard's Rock Vandalized

Most schools that take their football seriously have enclosed their stadium and don't have hills right behind the endzone.

And they take measures to secure things they hold precious.

"This rock is a very important piece of Clemson football history. Let's leave it unattended at the top of a hill near a gate where some idiot kids can do damage."

Vandalism is stupid, no matter what it is being vandalized. You gotta protect things like that if they are so important.

Running Through the T is great, and without a doubt one of college football's best pregame traditions.

That being said, the vast majority of people who have seen both and lack a preference to one school or the other would rank Clemson's Running Down the Hill higher.

I graduated from UT and attended Clemson for a year for grad school (before transferring) and its honestly a toss up. I was not fortunate enough to see a major home game my 1 yr there because there weren't any outside of the USC game which I missed for Fulmer's last game, so the overall atmosphere was not on par with a major SEC game. However, the first time I experienced the running down the hill I was standing on the hill and it gave me chill bumps I've rarely experienced. That was a noon game vs NCSU I can't imagine a night game vs FSU or USC. Clemson truly is a special place all around and Howard's Rock is as much of a tradition as the T and anyone that questions that doesn't know college football very well.

Daughter graduated from Clemson. Son attended last year as a freshman. I have attended Clemson home games and while it is a neat little tradition, everything seems somewhat "high-schoolish" compared to gameday at Neyland to all three of us. In fact, they found it difficult to sit through entire games. The one neat part at Clemson was that you can enter and leave all during the game - so if you do get bored...

Thanks to our student section in the 90s, the SEC banned leaving the stadium at halftime.

Not our finest hour.

...Oh, and I'm ticked about the vandalism. Just ridiculous! By the way, someone told me Sat. night that they had caught the perpetrator. Is there any truth to that? I can't find anything verifying it.
