only place i have seen that is a random article spewing out names. but hey, who knows.

One of the best jobs in college basketball is now open after UCLA has notified Ben Howland that he will be fired, according to a report from Yahoo! Sports.
A source told told SNY.tv that Shaka Smart, Brad Stevens, Mark Gottfried, Billy Donovan and Jay Wright are on UCLA's wish list.
More names are sure to emerge over the next week.

Heard from a friend that works at UCLA that their top 3 choices are supposedly Smart, Stevens and Buzz Williams.
Stevens is not going anywhere unless the IU or Duke jobs open up.

Shaka has it good at VCU. He too may be waiting on a plum east coast job to open up. Why go to UCLA where their expectations are unrealistic and Papa Sam Gilbert is dead?

Buzz Williams could be the guy, but indications are that they may have to settle for Mike Brown.

Smart would go before Stevens would. They want a "Bruce Pearl" type of coach that is animated and a team that plays exciting ball.

FYP.

And even that's a stretch. Sweet 16s and a NIT is nothing to brag about. Pitt had a decent program before Howland.

Check their record in the three years before he got there. Going from 38-47 to 76-25 is "nothing to brag about?" Their best record in 30 years isn't either? Okay.

lol. You act like they were bottom feeders before he came which is untrue. Pitt had a decent history before Howland coached them. I said "good again" because I agree he picked Pitt back up but he didn't give that program a name.

UCLA, the best college basketball program to grace this nation, will most likely get Brad Stephens as their next coach. Write it down, put it in your pocket, save it for later.

There are several programs better than UCLA. I also doubt they get Stevens, but if he's going to leave, now is the time to do it.

He can always pull the Duke move at a later time. It's not like going from one elite program to another isn't unheard of. Ask Kansas :D

Oh I know he's not...Donovan's wife about chopped his nuts off for taking the Magic job a couple hours away from Gainesville.

Orlando is a garbage town. I wouldn't want to live there either. L.A. might be more appealing to his wife. UCLA is in a very nice part of Los Angeles. I don't think Billy D's wife would have any problem living there, or leaving Gainesville for there.

UCLA's campus is beautiful, no doubt.

Everything else you said I disagree with.

UCLA has a reputation for not paying top dollar to attract the best coaching candidates.

Donovan makes $3.3M in Gainesville while Howland made $2M in Los Angeles.

In addition to a MUCH higher cost of living, California residents pay state income tax while Florida residents don't.

UCLA Basketball plays fifth-fiddle in LA to the Lakers, Dodgers, USC Football and now the Clippers.

Bottom line is UCLA has little to offer Donovan, other than less money, a much larger mortgage payment, higher taxes, a community more focused on professional basketball...and did I mention less money?
