Huepel needs tough introspection if he wants be be long term…

I’ve yet to see him rip a player or assistant's ass on the sidelines and I’ve yet to see an assistant rip a player’s ass.
This. If he isn’t going to do it he needs a respected assistant to do it. Something has to be done to let the players know that all the boneheaded penalties have to stop and hold them accountable for missing assignments.

This I know, will we will have to go undefeated before any future CFP committee will consider the Vols for a playoff spot after last night’s humiliation. Game was literally over before the first quarter ended. When you get these opportunities we need to be significantly better.
Y'all need to settle down. Yes we looked bad but other teams have as well. Look at ND in the playoffs prior to this weekend. They got obliterated twice. Get to 10 wins and you are likely going to be in from the SEC. Get to 11 and you won't be left out.

and take this program to another level.

He’s going to need better coaches AND recruiters on this staff. TN football will slip to mediocrity if he doesn’t make necessary moves.

Sad thing is I don’t think either the players or coaches care as much about winning as our fans.
I agree . I don't think they hurt after a loss like I do. They getting paid, that's all they care about

I don’t understand why people get blasted about the last two decades when someone points out current problems in the program. Either you see the issues or you don’t. Or you are a coach worshipper.
Exactly. I think most of us can agree that we are in a much better spot than we were with Dooley, Jones and Pruitt, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t still have a long way to go to become elite. We were 10-2 in the regular season this year, but with multiple issues on both sides of the ball our record could have easily been worse and can easily be worse next year. It isn’t unreasonable to wonder if the problem lies with the coaches or players or both and to wonder if those issues can be corrected by the current coaching regime. I’m definitely not calling for Heuple to be fired at this point because we could end up back where we were a few years ago, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t at least pose the question about whether or not he is the coach that can make us elite.

CJH’s huge problem right now is . . . He is an offensive coach . . . And his offense is not good.

I agree fully. I think enough of Heup that he has the tools to bring the program to greatness, but man there are some glaring issues.

The fact that <4500 fans belong and donate to The Volunteer Club makes me think that last sentence isnt an accurate statement.

Why should most of em care? All these kids want anymore is a paycheck. Thanks alot ncaa…college football is officially a joke!!!
The NCAA didn't do this.

The Supreme Court of the United States did.

So, if you think people shouldnt own the rights to their image, name and likeness, you probably should call your congressman

Or it could be that some people seem to only focus/post about flaws. Thats what i dont understand.

Make a post that is simply factually positive and there will be several , yeah but responses..

This program had 20 wins from 2017-2020
and 37 wins from 2021-2024.

And yall wanna point out flaws?

Weird.

This has to be a troll job. Utter and complete stupidity.

Id be shocked if Heupel fired anyone. He obviously doesn't do that...why, who the hell knows. But let's keep giving him bonuses etc.

And our hope that some assistants get hired away probably got dashed and exposed nationally, unfortunately.

Id be willing to bet it will be the same thing next year boys. Some are clearly happy with that.
And that will lead to his downfall as a HC

There is a difference in pointing out problems and what some have posted on this site since Saturday. I posted about the past 2 decades because some on here think we have been a national powerhouse all this time it seems.

Coming from where we have been, with the talent level we have had, Heupel has proven he can get our program back to pre-2000s level. Even with all the issues we had this year, we still made the playoffs as an at large.

I personally think we need a new Oline and DB coach. But definitely not a new HC as more than a few have suggested (not suggesting you).

Who’s says I’m not settled down. I’m giving my perception and perspective. ND will always be looked at more favorably than TN.

It's wild how you can look at our records from 2008 to 2020, then look at our records from 2021 to 2024, and the takeaway is "we are going to slip into mediocrity if we don't make moves."

How would you know what they care about? You don't know jack. You have never been remotely close to playing any sport at that level, yet somehow know what they care and don't care about?
You don't know what sports I have played and what level. For your information I played some college baseball and played high school football and basketball. I know how much it hurts me and my teammates after a loss. These guys got their money, they ok now

Fair enough. I don’t think Heup has proven that he can get the program back to that level. I think the AD along with Heup, is proving that stability and good coaching pays dividends. I don’t think his offense is reliable enough, to build an elite program.

How in your right mind possibly make that statement? Football for this group is 24/7 and obtaining success in a potential career field is the ultimate. Winning is everything and being part of an unique culture is a dream, a job, and family.

Fans on the other hand go home and forget, criticize or brag about their team vs players, coaches and staff hit the grind the next day and get prepared for another battle in 6 days. It is a 24/7 thing not a 4hour/2 day event. Plus injuries wear on players as well even tweaks so it becomes a mental issue as well. Players are fighting for a Sunday ticket and next level, but they don't want to let their family (team) down as well.

Saddest part about this comment is that you made a bold face statement on a msg board sitting behind a computer. Hope you get a carpal tunnel injury so you can justify your fandom.
