Yes but when he kicked at the ball they hadn't thrown the flag for the punch. At least not from the only angle I had. I almost died because I thought it was going to be 15 on us.

The psychology to me is this

He tried to kick it because when he missed his body responded so fast. The subconscious "what i expected didn't happen" stimulus caused his body to freak out to the brain

Notice just how quick he turned around in response to his body not delivering what the brain tried

Similar how to when someone lies they often physically show it, when you expect to do something and it doesn't happen you react. When you fall you open your arms out etc
