Huggins Shows Interest

I would never want Huggins. Typical redneck garb, always shouting F bombs and wearing slouchy clothing. He also has a documented alcohol problem.

He could probably recruit better at Tennessee due to location and facilities, but his classes at WVU have been very poor. I will say this, he is determined to get maximum effort out of his players, and seems to develop them pretty well year after year. If he can ever convince some high profile kids to go to Morganhole, watch out!

How'd all your proclamations about West Virginia missing the 'AAs turn out for you?

They turned the corner and started playing well. I made that statement after they lost two straight to Marquette and St. Johns, followed by a 2 point win against Depaul. Looks like I was wrong :)

Making season predictions is a whole different ball game than analyzing a 6'5" 300 lb ogre. I'm offended you tried to make the argument that they are somehow indicative of each other in terms of my credibility.

Edit: where did you see that prediction?

Yeah, that Ebanks/Jones/Bryant class was just awful.

Ebanks fell into his lap after the Indiana coaching issue. Don't pretend like Ebanks' first choice was WV and Huggins.

Kevin Jones is a decent player, I like his attitude and persistence.

Truck Bryant is worse than Melvin Goins, or worse yet - Joe Mazzulla.

Last year's squad was propelled by Belein's? recruits if I'm not mistaken.

Exactly. I'm not an expert on Bob Huggins, but I was always under the impression that he was an excellent recruiter.
He is. This year's class is a wash due to injuries and the fact Noah Cottril is mental. Finishing second for Tobias Harris and Doron Lamb didn't help, either.

So? Look at the list of people Huggs beat for Ebanks when he reopened his recruitment. Pretty sure, among others, that Calipari guy is a pretty good recruiter.

Seeing this in the new threads shocked the hell out of me. Was trying to figure out what in the hell I had missed.

Carry on.

Yeah, I got pretty happy for a minute. Then I realized that basketball season is still happening.

Really? Thanks for the groundbreaking information.

Hey, you are the guy who claimed that without Jones and Ebanks, there was nothing left to propel last season. I was merely pointing out that you seemed to forget about their best player.

Who would have led West Virginia straight to the NIT without Dev and KJ.

This I know: Huggins is the WORST dresser in all of college basketball. The chartreuse T-shirt under the sport coat is not a good look--and reinforces his wise guy rep!

Well, agree to disagree.

I'm not a Pearl fan by any means. I've respected what he's done in his tenure here 100%, but there are better coaches/people no doubt.

Personally I just don't like Huggins as a human, and feel like WVU suits him very well.

Pretty sure Hat agreed that Pearl was a good hire.

That being said, Pearl was a moron and lied and has left his fate to the NCAA. I support him coming back, but if he doesn't it is his own fault. Let's just wait and see what happens. If he goes, I hope the search starts and ends in Wichita.
