West Virginia reserve forward Dan Jennings, who dressed for Sunday's game against South Florida but didn't play, walked away from the bench in the second half. "I understand that you have to report it and that's fine but can we talk about the guys that play?" Huggins said. "Because he didn't play anyways and hasn't played. The truth of the matter is that he's been a nonentity. We started him to try and get some other guys motivated and he did work hard in practice for a while, but look at his career stats."

WOW...a nonentity? Then says "look at his stats". The kid is averaging 2 points a game. Talk about knocking his ability..

He's hardly played and only averages 2 points a game. He's not setting the world on fire or anything, and I don't blame Huggins for what he said. The guy walked out on his team. I'm not seeing the problem with Huggins here.

Huggins pretty much said he sucks, just look at his stats. You dont even see that in the NBA, much less college. When was the last time you heard a coach call out a kid in the media by claims that he's worthless?

If your player leaves the bench during a game, what else do you expect him to say?

happens often enough that this qualifies as little more than coaching. Some kids need it. Others need ego stroking, etc, etc, etc. Huggins has had more than his share of prima donna types of this nature complaining about lack of PT.

Only to the extent that you don't want the kid or believe you owe him, as a coach, to make him the best player / person he can be. Cutting ties is the easy route.

I guess he's only allowed 1 awkwardly long man-hug every 5 years or so.

Kidding aside, Huggins is a good coach, but I despise him as a human being. He is WV personified.

I don't see anything wrong with it at all. Kid made a choice to walk away from the team in the middle of the game. You act like a punk you should be treated like one to get your attention. Huggins didn't call him out without a prompt. Maybe his daddy can give Craig James a call and they can come after Huggins or just have a good cry together.

...pretty much every time I see a player walk out on his team in the middle of game.

There's nothing wrong with what Huggins did. I'm thinking the Elite 8 game is messing with your thought process.
