Congrats to you. Probably worth taking on the name of a pretentious douchebag and trolling an opponent site with silliness of this nature.

Just sayin....if you want to point fingers about elite 8's, we can go down that road.

Elite 8's? Ehhh....UK isnt the one that hangs a banner for it.

Hey, you know what's exponentially worse than hanging a banner for an Elite 8 in basketball? Draping the outside of your football stadium in giant banners proclaiming that you're "Music City Bowl champions."

The banner was a gift from Gaylord Hotels. It wasnt specially made to go along with a hanging ceremony.

Let's say that the weird end-of-the-game thing hadn't happened and Tennessee had won the Music City Bowl in December. You think Gaylord Hotels would have offered us a giant four-story banner to hang on the outside of Neyland? If they had, how long do you think it would have taken our AD to stop laughing about it?

Probably the same amount of time it took Summitt to stop laughing at the elite 8 banner. UK didnt celebrate it, nor did they have a ceremony for it. It just appeared, and many are not happy about it.

Well, somebody in your AD is awfully proud of it. It looks like the freaking LeBron James mural in Cleveland when you walk into your stadium. It's hilarious. And there's not just one, either -- aren't there two or three? I seem to remember one on every corner of the stadium.

I don't see any point for hanging a banner for an Elite Eight either, but there are probably only 10 schools in the country who would turn their nose up at it (Pitt has one, Baylor has one, etc). In contrast, it's hard to imagine that there are 10 major-conference football programs who would be willing to drape their stadium in giant Olympian murals celebrating Music City Bowl wins. One is kind of lame, but the other is truly pathetic.

Now thats funny. Kind of? UK's is outside the arena and they didnt have a special ceremony and a tear jerking moment with massive applause while hanging it. I thought Pearl was going to cry while unveiling it. UK's will be gone in a year or two (if not already), UT's will be proudly displayed forever.

I agree with your thoughts....one is kind of lame, and the other is truly hilarious.

I can point to other schools who have hung banners for making the Elite Eight. Can you point to any other schools that have draped their stadium with giant banners celebrating third-tier bowl wins?

UL, USC....to start.

Can you think of an SEC program or a respectable school, other than UT, that throws ceremonies to hang elite 8 banners?

The Elite 8 is a big deal. Especially for a non-traditional basketball school like Tennessee. Kentucky is top 3 all time historically, so your judgment is skewed based on your team's success. Quit being so pompous about it and learn to act like you've been there. You don't see any of us ending every statement with :

Because in America's game, beating Kentucky is truly nothing to celebrate.

On a brighter note for UT basketball, it is trending up in a big way. The Vols will also storm into Incestington, KY on Feb. 8th and proceed to beat the wildcats by a double-digit margin.

Eh, I don't know. Most of their championships came before black kids were allowed to play. That's like saying Italy's an all time top 3 country based on the Roman Empire.

Sounds like UT's football program...dont they claim titles all the way back to the 1930's? Thats kind of funny, I'll have to look that up one day.

The difference is that we don't make any dumb claims about being the top team in college football history. Meanwhile, you guys still beat your chests about being #1 in basketball while other teams have just blown right by you.

You guys need to have a statue of Louisville's head coach outside your arena, because if it weren't for him, you wouldn't have won anything in the modern era.

Where did I say UK was the top basketball program? I thought we were discussing your claim that UK has a good majority of titles pre-1960, even though UT football has plenty...even some that date back to the 1930's. That kind of made me laugh, thanks! But since you'd like to bring it up, ESPN and every other sports writer has put UK at either #1 or #2 of greatest basketball programs. I guess they dont have a clue, eh?

What programs have passed UK up? UCLA is still #1, UK is still #2. So UK didnt win a title in the last decade, so what. They did more in just the 90's than any program in the SEC has done in its history. And you're right, Pitino was great when he was at UK. Its a shame he left when he was on fire.

Uh, that's like bragging that you get more action with chicks than anybody else in church camp. You play in a football conference.

UNC and Duke have both blown far past UK in terms of the quality of their program. Sparty is better. All UK is now is a has-been ancient power who's had to resort to overpaying a known cheater in a desperate attempt to regain the glory they earned back in the all-whitey days.

hahaa!! You speak so poorly about Cal, but your fan base would have thrown the bank at him for his presence if he hadnt have moved to UK. If Cal was still at Memphis, and if Pearl gets fired....Cal would be on top of your wish list. I know you'll deny it, but its true.

As for your other opinion on where UK stands, hilarious.

But wait, I thought we were discussing how irrelevant national titles were if they were won pre-1960? You must really scoff at titles from the 30's or 40's.

I think it's great that my granddad got to watch championship Tennessee football back in the 30s and 40s and 50s, but you sure as hell don't see me beating my chest about how awesome that makes us right now.

Who cares what some nimrod blogger at the Bleacher Report writes? Kentucky and UCLA are like Army and Notre Dame in football -- has-been programs. There's nobody outside of the state of Kentucky under 40 years old who doesn't think that UNC and Duke are not both way beyond UK. Kentucky fans claiming to have the #1 basketball program in the country is like me applying for a job and sending in my grandfather's resume.
