With a hfc announcement, I can see this. With an assistant, ordinarily not. However, this is an unusual situation and I could see how they have have negotiated a short delay in exchange for leeway on an off-campus recruiting restrictions.

They will tell you every time it fell apart in the 11th hour and they talk about boosters that do donate large sums to UT but have never directly been involved with Athletics. So long story short the only true insiders are the ones inside the football complex and the AD. Everyone else is guessing, wishing and basing stuff off hearsay.

The truth isn’t offensive. I would love to eat crow on the Freeze hiring. We just got blown out by two average SEC teams and are entering yet another coaching search. When it comes to UT football there is nothing to pretend to be excited about
