Hyams Just Said

But you have to be a good passer or else a dual threat doesn't get you nothing. Same with the NFL, running gets you hurt. Passing has to be a priority. GO VOLS!!!

Jennings not expected to be a QB at UT.

News to me Jimmy....

This makes sense as he does keep the ball occasionally and run and that is not how our Read Option Offense works here.

I can only imagine the hell Butch would give him if he actually kept the ball and just didn't run with his empty hands 9 or 10 games like a fool.

He will start at quarterback. He has the potential to play other positions, but Tennessee wants him to start at quarterback because of his high ceiling there.

As I said in the thread I don't think Hyams' statement is accurate. I think and Jennings thinks he will get a look at quarterback when he arrives.

Are you really this stupid? Worley completed 67% of his passes yesterday despite horrendous offensive line play. If you think Worley is the problem, you're probably retarded.

In this offense he should be at 67%. The majority of his passes are dinks and screens. He's made some good downfield throws but he's also missed a lot on anything that stretches the field.

I like Worley, but you have to look at more than just stats. Sure, play calling can help him more. But he has to see the corner blitz. He also has to know that he doesn't have more than 3 seconds in the pocket. He also still throws off his back foot even when he rolled out and bought himself time. As I stated in another thread, it's a mixture of problems.

Wrong... We've without a doubt told him he'll have an opportunity to play qb. And he's exactly what weneed. Hes a real competitive, high iq kid. Hes was voted MVP of the state basketball tournament last year. Imagine this kid running the read option...

40% of our starters are 18.

And 60% aren't. The whole OL is not young. A little game inexperienced but not young and needing time to grow and improve. If they're not strong enough or have the technique by now they're not getting it all of a sudden.

Worley didn't look that great last year. I've not given up on all 5, but I would love to see two Juco Olinemen brought in or a transfer or two.

What other position could he play? I presume WR. But with the other talented true WRs out there that we have seemingly passed on, having Jennings try to convert to that position would be a total waste, hence, he will be a QB

Agree. The fact that Wiseman, Sanders and Blair can't see the field at all is what's troublesome to me.

But one whole side of our OL is true FR.

I think he is referring to the media speculation that in the end he will play another position. I believe CBJ plans on him playing QB unless he shows over the years he cannot. QB IMO

Most everything Hyams says like that is from someone who's opinion he trusts. Last I heard from a Jennings interview, he will have an opportunity to prove he can play QB, and that is all I need to know for now.

Agree on the JUCO lineman. Blair is an aberration. Wee need a couple for next season.

Where's Jimmy been? Jennings has always been a quarterback prospect to this staff.

Don't give up on Blair just yet BOT. I think he can be a very good RT. If he locks down RT then Thomas can go back to his more natural position at C. I look for an all out, best man wins competition this coming spring at RT between Thomas, Kendrick, Jones, and Blair. Kerbs is best suited at guard, but he'll stay at LT as he's all we have atm at LT.
