I don't think we'll really miss Hyatt that much tomorrow night. Odd to say that about a 4.29 guy, but I don't think blazing speed was a big factor in all but 2 or 3 of his touchdowns. It was all scheme. I think Squirrel will be just fine. I can't find a 40 time on him but I did see something about being clocked at 23.6 mph via gps (whatever that means) - article said that would put him among the fastest players in the NFL.

I'm just praying Milton has learned to put some air under the deep ball since Vandy.

GBO!

If it doesn't rain, I think we're in for one helluva show, though my cracked crystal ball insists the game will be a grind.

Choosing to not play, for whatever reason (even valid reasons such as Draft stock), is quitting. There is a game still to be played and he has chosen to quit. I don't necessarily blame him but I think it's a bad trend developing in CFB. It won't be long until players are sitting out regular season games.

HE WAS THE BILLETNIKOFF WINNER, DUDE. Of course him not being out there will be a loss.

Seriously, some of ya'll need to lay off of the meth before you post.

In a Josh Hueple O, if I was a straight line <4.3 receiver, I would want to be in Hueple's O. Getting past the DB & a QB hitting them in stride is the MO. IMO Hyatt will not have a great NFL career unless he gets in the right O. Just don't see him as a Tillman type guy that can go get a 50/50 ball. A speedy receiver like Squirrell & Hyatt are made for this O not saying Tillman & Bru are not. Basically, saying they would fit better in most Os. JMO
We will miss Hyatt but think Squirrell will be very good just got less experience as a freshman.

Yep. Stop calling it "opting out" to be politically correct and call it what it is.

"Hard to teach an old dog new tricks." I know he is not that old in years , but he has been around football at the higher level of college ball for some time. AND still hasn't learned.

It’s gonna continue to happen until the NFL takes your view. They don’t hold it against the player. Selfishly, I want to see them in uniform for the bowl. But bowls are now glorified exhibitions.

Even if you pay the players a cash bonus for playing, that’s hard to entice a guy looking at a million dollar contract.

Please do not fool yourself. Hyatt's production and presence on the field will be missed.

I don’t blame him one bit. We aren’t in the playoffs. The results of this bowl game really has no significance. Can you imagine if he suffered a career ending injury? Good luck in the draft young man. Thanks for your time as a Vol. One of the best to ever wear the orange.

I am going to disagree. When you have someone like Hyatt, who can run and catch, it influences the defense and coverage.

I'm sure he wants to play, just being told not to by his agent.

PLUS

Bazooka Joe being under center might not improve JHyatt's drafting position.

Money is coming over the top here and drafting position is winning out.

JHyatt's production, with solid QB play, would be missed.

Too many variables here.

Route running and route choice matters too. Hyatt got a lot better at breaking off routes at the top of the route and being on the same page as Hooker. I think Squirrel will do fine though.

You are correct of course but I could make the same statement before the Vanderbilt game, for that matter any game after Bama. Why risk injury trying to make the playoffs now that his draft status is high.

I don't see how you can say that we aren't going to miss the production of the Biletnikoff award winning WR on the field. It's just a ridiculous statement, IMO. We definitely would have not been the same team without him this year so why say that we won't miss him at this point?

I have zero issues with Hyatt sitting out the bowl game but we will definitely miss his presence and production on the field. Defenses had to account for where he was on every play and now they won't have to game plan for that. Also, he scored 5 TDs on Bama...we kind of need that potential production during the bowl game from our top player. Even with MIlton at QB, Hyatt has the ability to completely change a game from the WR position. We don't have anther player, other than Tillman who also isn't playing, that has shown they can impact a game like Hyatt can.

There is another way to look at these guys sitting. We have guys who can get open deep. Keyton and Squirrel have shown the ability. Clemson should know this, however if they game plan to stack the box we can still beat them deep.
