I know it’s one game, but Danny White has invested way too much time, energy, and financial resources into this program to see it regularly churn out seasons with 3-4 losses. In a short period of time, he has been arguably the best AD we’ve ever had. I trust that whatever plays out this season, he will sit down with Heup at the end of the year and discuss making whatever adjustments are necessary to put us in the position to compete for an SEC Championship every single year. He knows what’s at stake.

My goodness, such an overreaction after 3 games.

I've decided
  • The 2023 Volunteers are not going to live up to my expectations
  • There is no component of the team that is elite - can't blame DBs, QB, RBs, OL, DL for poor performance. The VOLS as a team are vanilla
  • I love Volunteer football even when it frustrates. I love our color of orange, Davey Crocket, Smokey, Rocky Top, Checkerboards.
  • I choose to believe that Heupel will get as much out of this team and staff as he can and will recruit to fill gaps. He's my/our Coach.
  • I will tune into every game and support this team while they work to figure it out.

What determines whether or not it is an overreaction will be determined by what comes next. Does the team learn and improve or do the same stupid mistakes keeps happening.
This team is not playing to anywhere near it’s potential. That cannot continue and be acceptable

DW isn’t worried about the outcome of last nights game
He should be. It was a very important measurement point for the program. It was a serious marker for evaluation. The program failed that test miserably, and it did not seem to be an anomaly. This program was likely to take a minor step back this season, but the first important marker of the season showed major cause for concern.

agree-- not a bump in the road---not on Milton alone
really got outcoached--- not following motion resulting in first down yardage every time
when they finally get the ball keep trying to run when it was clear that was not going to move the ball
both lines got beat and Fl not supposed to be good
two weeks until we see more SEC players and maybe the staff can figure something out

Reasonable assessment, but our playbook is vanilla too and that's on Heupel.

If the play selections we've seen are all we can get out of this team after the play selections we saw last year, what happened?

Something has changed radically in the tempo we play most of the time and play mix.

Last year we were excited because of our exciting offense Heupel runs and hopeful that "what WR wouldn't want to play in this scheme?" This year..... that offense is nowhere to be seen.

That's on our coach. He calls the plays. He designs the overall offense. Where is the Coach Josh Heupel of last year and his offense?

How is this an overreaction? You’re saying he isn’t the AD we need? I have 100% faith in the administration and coaching staff. Last night was just a bump in the road.

Overreaction?
1. Regularly churn out seasons with 3-4 losses. Assumption and overreaction on your part just 3 games into this season and not a single down being played in the upcoming seasons. With NIL and Portal in play no one can assume anything in the future.
2. Heup at the end of the year whatever adjustments. End of year? They talk weekly about issues, wins or losses.
3. He knows what's at stake? DW created the stakes by hiring and supporting the coaches and staffs we have today. It's not just about Football and you should recognize it extends to all Tennessee Athletics as well. What is at stake and who says we will not contend for an SEC Championship every year including this one?

Rome was not built in one day. Some seem to think we have reached the mountain's peak last year. Reality is that we did not but built something to climb on it takes time.
So yes, this is an Overreaction and reach to think something has to be done at the end of the season 3 games into it. All this does is create drama.

Games are how they are measured. One game against UF is a huge indicator. I’m sure you’d prefer people wait until the season is over to judge … but this is Tennessee and they can see the writing in the wall. The Vols are still several recruiting successes away from being a quality program. 7 wins this season.

Losing to Florida what something like 20 of the 22 last years is a lot of „bumps in the road“. No wonder our program‘s suspension is so badly out of alignment 😉

It was one game, yes. But it was revealing event. A coach who never plays safe before half was running the clock and it suggests Heup doesnt trust this team. What was worse to me, the team looked uninterested and underprepared. Tough road ahead now.

Lmao Yeah I’m sure you said people were overreacting when we struggled against Virginia and Austin Peay and then look what happened Saturday
We had to endure similar prognostications of total doom after the SC game last year. Not a lot of NY6 bowl win projections after that stinker. Our fan character coefficient levels are taking the biggest hit.

Its possible that Heupel could just end up being a bridge coach that we have some good times with but it ultimately doesn't work out.

We are vol fans. We've saw this movie before and we know how it ends.

As a chemical engineer, I can appreciate the effect of fan character coefficients.
