Hi Clayton. Hope you're doing well. I assume you've concluded this because the first half score was 24-6 and you think that if UGA would have simply come out the 2nd half with the same game plan then both teams would have produced equivalently to the first half and the final score would have been something like 48-12.
That's fine. As I've learned today, it's very difficult to talk someone out of an argument like that. Instead of arguing, here's a few things to consider:
- Bennett played nearly perfect ball in the first half. Perhaps his 2nd half performance would have been less than perfect regardless of game plan.
- Perhaps success on the ground was a big part of UGA's game plan in both halves, we just defended it better in the 2nd half.
- There was a 75-yard punt in the first half that effectively took a possession away from Tennessee and gave UGA the ball on our 37-yard line. Perhaps the ball would have been fielded by our returner or bounced into the endzone in the 2nd half.
- Georgia's RB gained 49-yards on a wheel route on one of their scoring drives. Perhaps in the 2nd half, our safety understands his assignment and doesn't let Mcintosh get beind him. The underneath route was covered by our LB.
- This one's a little crazy, but stick with me. Bennett threw a pass that hit our LB in the abdomen in the first half. Perhaps our LB comes down with that in the 2nd half and returns it for a touchdown.
Just a few things to consider. Hope the rest of your evening is full of peace, love, and joy.
