I think the press conference was a sincere apology and I think he really feels like he has let down the University of Tennessee, but to all fairness, he lied, he has fessed up to it, and he did not run away like Kiffen did. He is standing his ground, taking the punishment and I am sure he will do his job. As fans we should be grateful for some one who has enough integrity to at least own up to his mistakes and promise the whole fan base, players, the University, and his family that he will not do it again. I don't know all the details, and I'm sure I don't really want too, because my idea of whats right and wrong does not matter to the NCAA, most people on here, or to Bruce Pearl. Bottom line, he broke the rules, and he is going to pay the price. A mistake does not make someone a bad man, it makes them human.

I am still behind Bruce and the guys in orange!:rock:

I couldnt agree more. In his first season he led us to a #2 seed with a average team at best. He is a great coach and made a mistake. Isolated incident.

Yep, I agree. We all make mistakes, take your punishments and let's move on. Go Vols.

How do you have any way of knowing that this is an isolated incident? Look, Pearl's done a hell of a job accomplishing feats at Tennessee; but that doesn't just give him the green light to cheat, lie, and have the NCAA hammering us with penalties. Some of you guys amaze me.

There are mistakes, then there are out and out eff-ups. This falls into the latter category, and it isn't debatable.

Yes, because he won let's overlook the fact that he cheated. Awesome. Mistakes aren't intentional, cheating is.

Lets get ALL the facts before we decide we KNOW he cheated, and just what he did... all I know is he misled the NCAA... gee guess that helped us win about 7 or 8 games last year

100% anyone who is against cheating is against winning. Eff em.

Times are goig against us right now so we as a fan base need to put on more steam. I say we burn down the NCAA headquarters.

I observed Pearl for a number of years in southern indiana and agreed way back when with "hat" that I did not want him at Tennessee. There is no doubt he can coach, I have never felt differently on that subject, he can motivate and he can get the Jimmy and Joes to run his X's and O's...but integrity is not his strong suit. This goes way back to his days at Iowa.

If Tenn sanctions work he and the univeristy will be lucky. Pearl has a less than stellar record with the NCAA.I watched the same crap go down with Sampson at IU and that program is just now in its first stages of recovery.

I have never bad mouthed Pearl, while at Tenn or at USI, just did not like what I saw and knew to be going on.

Go Vols

I am just glad Bruce didn't get fired. Sue me, but I enjoy winning and seeing a full thompson boling arena. I also enjoy watching the NCAA tournament and us being in it. Yes, I'm embarrassed that this happened, but, to me, it is better than being irrelevent again. Look, he lied about small violations to the NCAA. While incredibly stupid, atleast we weren't paying players. During our so called glory years of the seventies Bernard King was getting paid. We put up a banner for Ray Mears yet want to crucify Bruce Pearl. That is crap.

I love having a large sum of money in the bank. I sell drugs for that large sum. Doesn't sound so great, does it?

I will always LOVE all things Tennessee, but CBP no longer has my support, he embarrassed the University.

You know - Barbara Dooley was right today. One bad move and you can lose your integrity. Bruce Pearl's misrepresentation of facts to the NCAA sure makes it hard to be "behind Pearl" with confidence that he is operating with integrity. His previous handling of his marriage also makes me wonder.

No parent with integrity wants their kid playing for a coach with integrity issues. Integrity issues in coaches make it easy for a kid to not act with integrity and that leads to much bigger problems.

I want a clean program, period and I am glad he was penalized with severity. Time will tell if he is truly sorry or sorry he got caught.

You should stop watching college sports all together, no matter the coach/assistants, there is going to be cheating of some sort.

Getting caught or not is another thing.

Is that your response? If you think for one second any fan should support CBP after EMBARRASSING this University your nuts.

I don't give a **** how many wins he gets he is NOT above this University, he has to EARN my support.

That was the problem he got too comfortable, then when things looked grim he went to Hamilton with his tail between his legs. I think he deserves a 2nd chance if this is all that comes out.

So its OK to lie, since everyone else is doing it, great logic.

So all you guys that believe Pearl 100% and are giving him the total benefit of the doubt, are you suddenly going to give ALL coaches this same luxury?
