Not of our program, but of a fan base that cries and says they are disgusted when we lose a game by 1 point to the #6 team.

We looked about as good as our ranking suggested.

We will now roll through a bunch of nobodies and stay about the same place in the polls by the time we play Pastner and a Memphis team that looks excellent. Will this team want redemption against a Kansas team that shellacked them? Will they buy in to play the defense they need to beat UK?

It looks pretty good to me at this point.

Also my complaint's about the refs have not gone away. They treated this like a church league game. Skylar McBee was called for every hand check foul in the world but when he is being kicked on the ground there is no technical. Garbage.

The game ended with Wayne Chism being fouled and then not being able to get a foul call. Awful...

I am also glad I am not in the Virgin Islands. Watching their cheering fans I wanted to comment on the dog faced escort of one of those losers and get them to hit me so I could stomp them under the bleachers.

I agree it was a 1 pt lose to the #6 team in the nation, however I do think we should have won. In basketball you are gonna lose games in happens, we will lose another I promise. Everything will be ok.

Although I am upset at the outcome and several aspects of the game, I think that a hard fought early season loss can actually be quite a blessing in disguise.

Had a chance to win against a really strong team and we lost. Not the end of the world. This is November basketball not an SEC football game. We played tough and took every punch they threw. We are going to see some more teams like this down the road and will have a chance to hit the shot to win next time.

I'm not upset about losing as much as us not being smart on the last possession. We have to play smarter in our last possessions if we want to win anything.

I didn't like the calls but dont' think they were one sided. This lose hurts because It would have been nice to take a trophy home. I'm displeased with the lack of intensity compared to the first half. The refs sort of backed off in the 2nd half...no way does UT go down by 1 at the half if the officiating wasn't so tight. I'm extremely outraged by how many dumb turnovers we had in this game. Goins threw the ball out of bounds like 2 or 3 times and then you have Scotty dribbling the damn ball off of his knee.

HOWEVER
I am impressed with how good our full court pressure / traps and freethrows looked compared to last year. The team has obviously worked on that and it shows. Either way, these tourneys against good times like Purdue will help us in the long run. I'm almost sick of playing these tough teams and bowing out in March though. No excuses this year. If you play these tough games to battle test and prepare your team for the tournament run then they certainly have that under their belt. Good win Purdue. Like I figured, Hummel is a stud.

only thing i'm truly PO'd about is taking a 3 to win the game when all you need is a two. it's stupid ass decisions that aggravate me.

It's RIDICULOUS to read some of the reactions to a 1 pt loss at the BEGINNING of the season. Let's get better.

Im with ya Mike....I was upset for a second after the game, but when i reflect on it...it was a great game and P. U. has a great group of guys...just think about 15 yrs ago...coukd tn even play with the big ten in b.ball, much less be really considered to beat ky, and maybe make it to the final 4? We have a good team, and this loss should only make us stronger

I've never understood being satisfied with a loss. Especially when UT should have won.

There is a big difference in being satisfied with a loss and posting things like the sky is falling/fire Pearl/we suck/etc.

Nobody likes to lose but it isn't the end of the world or even the season for that matter.

You really think our fan base is that much different than any other one? You don't think plenty of fans of any top 25 team would be griping if their team took a three in a one-point game?

I say that's naive if you really believe that.

How do we know purdue is no. 6 or a final four team? The rankings mean very little this early in the season. It's easy to make excuses. The only question is, do you play good team basketball or not.

I've seen nothing about firing people. As for we suck, well in those situations we do. And if you say we don't, you have no idea.

Games like these are good predictors for how we will perform in close games and tournament games. And this is not a good sign.

This game has shown there has been zero improvement in tournament and end of game situations in 5 years of Pearl.

Nobody is satisfied with a loss... it's the ignorant wailing and gnashing of teeth. Sometimes discussing basketball with other Tennessee fans feels like trying to explain hockey to a four year old.
