I Applaud this Statement by Obama

In fairness, this isn't even close to the same crap Bush did. In the scheme of things, we have only launched some missles and enforced a no-fly zone. Bush fully invaded two countries. One of which, turned out not to be as big a threat as advertised.

Well in fairness, Bush did get Congressional approval before each invasion. Strong Congressional approval.

He also gained unanimous UNSC approval and had a "Coalition of the Willing" that didn't disintegrate 5 minutes after the shooting started.

That means nothing to me. It's still unconstitutional. As we speak Obama is the beneficiary of a congress that has chosen to turn a blind eye, just like Bush. The manner in which they turn a blind eye doesn't really matter.

what Bush did was constitutional, what obama did wasn't. of course when did a democrat/marxist ever care what the constitution says.

No it wasn't. Congress has to declare war, to engage in war. They didn't in either case. We haven't had a president remotely follow the constitution in over a century.

Meh, it would have gone through... Repubs called for it to happen, and when it finally did they started complaining to "Do it like you mean it!" (At least that's all I could ostensibly gather as to what they were complaining about). Though, I suppose that the election is close enough that if Obama were to end the recession, single-handedly save Japan's nuclear reactors, end poverty, cure teh AIDS, *****-slap Gaddafi in his face and win Dancing With The Stars within the next six months, the GOP would still have to find something to complain about.

Ya, how did he have time to go on Dancing With The Stars when there is a nuclear North Korea and the Mayan doomsday is only a year away?

I disagree. Congress turns a blind eye because they don't want the responsibility of making this decision. Putting it to a vote makes them all publicly take a side that they can't go back on. Kind of like the Bush era tax cuts...Dems acted like those were going away for sure, but when it came time to vote, they saw what the people wanted and changed their tune.

I forgot to mention personally putting a bullet in Kim Jong Il/Un's skull from long range, and liberating DPRK, Lybia, Egypt, Syria and Iran.

so you're claiming the expectations are too high for him? If anything the bar was lowered for the 8 years prior and he's still not able to get it done.

I think Constitutionally he's fine; this is not technically a war and I've seen various Constitutional experts way in.

Politically though:

1. He expressly said he would not do this (see OP quote)
2. He got approval from the UN, Arab countries and various other allies but not from Congress. Congress will be pissed and rightfully so. He sought approval, just not U.S. approval.

Regardless of all stated, Congress is simply playing politics. If they were asked to be actively involved, they would just shrug their shoulders. Constitutionally, he has violated nothing. He notified Congress within 48 hours and has followed the War Powers Resolution correctly.

I agree on the Constitutional part but consulting any number of foreign countries/entities but not including any Congress sure looks like extreme executive power - something he campaigned against.

No, just that the red chairs in senate are never going to admit he's done anything right at this point, because it's close to time they chose their guy to run in 2012.

It does, but he is abiding the laws.

As this indicates, I think it is pretty apparent how out of touch he was with the actual governing of the Oval Office as candidate Obama.

For a student with a concentration in International Relations he hasn't looked too impressive.

I bet more blue chairs would have raised objections than red chairs on this one.

Yes.

It goes on both sides though.

Bush received unwarranted criticism as well.
