I believe that, to some extent, Bama gets preferential treatment

Something I find funny about the Bama/TN rivalry; Bama fans absolutely loathe Tennessee and a lot of it has to do with Phil Fulmer turning them in to the NCAA. Never mind the fact that Bama literally invented cheating in college sports and the NCAA rulebook itself was formed with the Bear in mind. Never mind the fact that they were caught red handed paying the Means kids - it's all TN's fault. They're just angry they got caught.

I'm not crying about it. I respect it, actually. If you're going to be a cheating program, be upfront about it and make no apologies. It would be different if Alabama was like UNC and tried to push "The Alabama Way" crap in people's faces while pissing on their heads. At least we know it's urine.

Oh, you're crying. And it's just fantastic.

I'm not saying I agree with this logic, but the way Long presented it, Bama is being given credit for better wins overall. That's bolstered by playing Wisconsin OOC while Florida has yet to play their tough OOC game. There also seems to be some reasoning that the UGA team that Bama destroyed was not the same UGA team that Florida destroyed.

...and no mention of the common opponent results vs Ole Miss? What is the reasoning behind that? I agree with those who are saying that this will all play itself out and so it really doesn't matter in the long run. If Alabama beats LSU, they will deserve to be there. If they win the SEC, they will have to have also beaten Florida but at least for this week, they received preferential treatment over Florida which is hard to justify.

The do not license the Playoff or the bowls. They give certification to the bowl committees that run the games, but those certifications don't come with payment.

You will not find the NCAA's logo, or even their name, on any of the material for the Playoff. They have neither requested nor received NCAA sanctioning for the Playoffs.

From the CFP's own website:

Do you see the NCAA in there anywhere?

The real answer to your question is not on the webpage but would be in the Founding Docs of that LLC. I'm very doubtful the NCAA is not making money off the playoff but really don't care enough to resesrch it.

If the NCAA were involved, why would the CFP go to such lengths to hide their involvement?

Cowherd making a good point today. If you just made your choices for the playoffs by record alone you would wind up with 4 Iowas. There would be no reason for anyone to play anyone of significance.
