Chances UT makes the bottom 10?

wow, Minnesota sure bottomed out this year. Taking some luster off of Fleck....

Minnesota is not nearly that bad. It's a mathematical quirk as a result of only having three games under their belt. My ranking has Minnesota 9 spots behind the 0-3 Illinois team that Minnesota just beat by 4 touchdowns.

Where is Penn State?

Also how is Clemson above Notre Dame? Have they played that much of a different schedule?

Also also TN continues its crawl to the bottom on an off week.

98. Penn St (0-4) - 71.3117

Remember that this system doesn't look at names. So it doesn't matter than Team A beat Team B.

In this case, Clemson has a higher point differential, a higher yardage differential, and their SOS is much better: 48.5692 vs 35.0290.

Also also TN continues its crawl to the bottom on an off week.

Tennessee has a decent SOS and it will only get better vs Auburn. As long as UT isn't totally creamed, then they'll probably jump a few places this week.

so your system doesn't take into account strength of wins? anyway you slice it a victory (even in OT) over clemson is good.

I have seen some models not just weigh strength of who you have played. But also strength of wins. Like 6 wins with 1 good win is going to be better than 7 wins with no good.

I think that's why Clemson is ahead of Notre Dame at this point.

If you are factoring in strength-of-schedule, does the SEC have an advantage in playing a conference-only schedule this year?

Not really. All of the conferences that are playing conference-only schedules are essentially insuring a .500 win percentage across their leagues. So, the better teams will have worse strengths of schedule and the worse teams will have better strengths of schedule. It has to average out that way.

NY6 Bowl Matchups as of today (and the G5 can't get into the CFP):

Sugar (CFP) - #1 Alabama vs. #7 Notre Dame
Rose (CFP ) - #4 Clemson vs. #6 Ohio St

Fiesta (At-Large vs. At-Large) - #2 BYU vs. #11 Colorado
Peach (At-Large vs. At-Large) - #3 Cincinnati vs. #8 ULL
Orange (ACC vs. SEC/Big 10/Notre Dame) - #10 Miami vs. #12 Florida
Cotton (At-Large vs. At-Large) - #5 Coastal Carolina vs. #15 Iowa St

Chances are, only one G5 schools is getting into the NY6, so call it BYU. I just thought this list was funny.
