Dont she have some women players that went pro in the wnba . I see your point , but Pat Summit is a great BB mind and motivator imo . Fyi I cant stand womens BB.

I agree that Summit is a great BB coach for Women's Ball. She has had several player go Pro in the WNBA. However, the WNBA is not the pinnacle of basketball players. In the U.S., the NBA is the pinnacle of the great basketball players. This is where the best basketball players in the country and world play.
She should not be compared or included in the list with coaches of these athletes.

That's my point. I am not a huge fan of Women ball, but I do follow the Lady Vols and cheer for them.

Now if you will excuse me, I am going out to spraypaint MillsfieldVOL's name on my driveway. :p

sounds like John Wooden is the racist one

KU fans are not racist. Don't generalize the whole group just because a few are lousy. Every fan base has their bad apples and don't want to be judged due to their opinions. We don't think the white players are better than the black players. At this point our white players have had a little more experience especially in defensive play. Every single player Bill Self recruited this year albeit juco or freshman, is black. We had 7 newcomers this year so don't think Self is lookin for the white kids. I believe he's looking at ability and attitude, not the color of their skin.
Sheesh.

KU fan here- Let me interpret poster: 1) If he was a KU fan, the poster was probably mad/upset that two white players were playing who are not considered elite. This was a sign to him that KU was in trouble if they had to be out on the court and our young pup freshman weren't. 2) He could be a rival troll because he didn't know Morningstar"s correct name (not Morningsleeves) or he was intentionally using the wrong name. 3) The poster doesn't know his stuff. Of the three players that play the majority of the minutes, two are black (Colins - 33.8 min and Taylor - 27.3 min.) and one white (Morningstar - 27.3 min). Cole, our other white starter (26.3 min.)tends to foul and has to sit some.

Welcome to the board :hi:
Looking forward to a competitive game on Saturday. I just found out that this is the first time any major sport UT team has ever visited there.

I didn't know that either. The years tend to blur! Thisis good for college basketball. We all want our non con schedules to include some meaningful games to keep it interesting, genrate rivalries and give us a good indication of where we are before conference play. Hope you enjoy Allen Field House crowd. They should make the game lively.

BTW- To previous poster - While named in honor the late Dr. F.C. "Phog" Allen, the Jayhawks' head coach for 39 years, it is not generally referred to as Phog Allen Fieldhouse, just AFH.

Ku fan here. It's a known fact that the person that posted that is a known sock and is not a KU fan.

That said I look forward to a good game. Obviously I want my Hawks to win as we really need a quality non-con win vs a good team.

I'll be there in person so I can't wait for the energy that will consume Allen Field House. Here's hoping that this is a start to a fun OOC Big 12 / SEC Rivalry for the future

 check this out. I wish someone would show our guys this! We need more black players on the floor.

A team that plays 3 white guys the majority of the time (Cole, Reed, Morningsleeves) is right about where they should be at 8-3.

Recruit blacks. Please.

"White guys don't win championships. Their job is to make the blacks better."

Welcome :hi:
We are looking forward to it as well. Great scheduling. I'd love to see us meet regularly. We have met quite a few class acts in weeks past from our OOC foes and you guys seem to be a class bunch as well. Here's to a competitive and injury free game. :toast:
Of course my take on it is that we pull this one out. I think we will wear you down in the end, but who knows...
Cheers

Wecome to the board :hi:

I went over to the board (didn't post anything). I was a little surprised at how many of you guys are picking UT on this one. I think it should be a great game and could go either way.

I noticed the same thing. I was surprised. Hopefully we'll live up to expectations!

Thank you. For another, somewhat more active, KU hoops board, you can visit here:

Look for webprince's detailed statistical pre-game analysis.

Wow, I didn't realize how dumb some of our fans are! "KU fans are racist"... Listen pal, if you don't think UT has racist fans then you've been living under a rock all your life. And to the people who think John Wooden was just so great! Think again. Just because he won a ton of titles doesn't mean he was a good person. Dumb Dumb Dumb Dumb Dumb. I propose Freak installs an IQ test to be completed prior to any new memberships.

This thread is highly unacceptable that some KU fans will not be coming back to this site to help confront these Memphis fans. I had to apologize to them for this thread.

Hey, volfanatic, this thread has worked out well for you.

Luckily for me, I really don't care what you think...once again, it was posted it peeved me...I posted. I have learned one thing though, without a doubt...I don't care for this board much at all anymore. I'm not a NEW MEMBER, I've been a member for over a year....and also...just because you don't agree with a post does'nt give you the right to insult and demean. I know all about racism as I live in a lil town abt 50 miles east of Knox, and after chatting with some folks on that KU board, I had my opinion. I'm not gonna say I'm srry to anyone. I tell it as I saw it. Have a good day and GO VOLS! I will say this, VN mods, if you feel you should, please delete my thread. I have no problem with what I said.

I'm a multi-decade KU fan, and made several respectful appearances here last year.

Let me give you a few reasons why you are full of it.

Danny Manning-our #1 player hero and best big-man assistant in the business
Jeremy Case-5-year player and grad assistant to Self
Sherron Collins
Tyshawn Taylor
Kieff Morris
Mark Morris
Quintrell Thomas
Mario Little
Mario Chalmers
Brandon Rush
Darrell Arthur
Darnell Jackson
That just covers the past two seasons. Then you can get into everyone from Wilt Chamberlain to Paul Pearce, etc, etc.

There's not even any gender prejudice there--the strength coach is the best in the business--a female.

And in case that isn't enough, Lawrence, Kansas was founded by a bunch of abolitionists and we STILL refer to the Missouri ruffians as "the slavers."

Drop on by the Free State Brewery, and I'll buy you a cold one and set "y'all" straight about the least prejudiced place I have ever lived!

Rock Chalk.

You had a great post going until you threw that bigoted garbage in there. Go play in the cornfields.

You're confusing us with Iowa. Although I have nothing against Iowa, Kansas is the wheat state. Kansas produces more wheat than any other state, nearly one-fifth of the U.S. crop, enough to fill a train stretching from western Kansas to the Atlantic.

As an ignorant Kansas hick, it's news to me that "y'all" is considered "bigoted garbage." I just got back from a visit to a deep south state, and everybody, black and white, says "y'all." Or perhaps my sarcasm meter needs adjusting.

Incidentally, y'all have to stop overreacting to a loss at Allen Fieldhouse. You've got a fine young team and a good coach.

I agree with BigDance. Your team is very athletic and fought till the end. You are big and your press is the best I have seen in a long while. I felt like the game was 4 hours long because I never felt we had it in the bag until the end. Good thing my heart is strong. You aren't the only ones who felt like you had no offense - just ask UNC! But many a team has felt that way because Self is a BIG believer in strong defense above anything else. We have ranked high in that category since Self took over. Your team will do fine...... it's just your after game let down. You gave us a heck of a game. Thanks.

Don't worry about him. We say "y'all" all the time - but he may be too cool for us I guess.
