I don’t get our lack of a WR rotation

We pretty much only played Bru, Keyton, and White last night. You would think with Tillman and Hyatt out - at least Walker Merrill would have played some. I don’t understand why at a start of a series if a couple more receivers get snaps. At some point this will hurt our WR recruiting if only 3 play per game.
Speed and Heupel's method of keeping the D off balance.

If you sub, they get to sub. You know that annoying situation where the ref stands there and won't let the QB get a snap? That's because the offense subbed and the defense gets the chance to sub.

That's not how Heupel likes to run his offense.

We never sub wrs until someone gets hurt or the next series. If we sub they csn sub. Golesh talked about it. If someone needs a blow then they call plays to other side of field so someone can take a play off. They'd rather do that then give you a chance to sub.

We're not as deep as you think. If Merrill wasn't in the rotation it was the right decision. This wasn't a just get guys some snaps game. I think I saw him on special teams.

Plus, the Clemson DBs played very well. You stay with your most reliable WRs.

I understand what the OP is saying. I think Merrill should have gotten a series or two in. If a good receiver doesn't play, that is reason for the transfer portal.

Hard to build quality depth if the 2nd's don't get playing time. Also hard to recruit quality players with this scheme.
Yeah we’re really struggling to do well at the WR position. 😂 The second string was starting at most positions last night.

Except for right now the 2nds are actually 3rds and 4ths. Technically speaking, White and Keyton are 2nds.

I would like to see more rotation but understand why we don't.

UT doesn't want to sub because Heupel believes controlling the D's ability to sub is that important. He has negated the necessity for situational personnel on O. Every CFB team depends on situational personnel to be good on D.

Hopefully there comes a time when he feels he has more WRs who can be subbed in for whole series without losing continuity or having a performance drop off.

Agree. Maybe it was a combination of new QB along with there being uncertainty after Bru, White, and Keyton? Interesting take though

I don't understand all the "quit bitchin" and "Just enjoy it" garbage replies to this question. It's a legit question. I got no negavol, can't enjoy the moment feel from this. Stop posting to try to make yourself look better. The guy had a question. Answer it or move on. Ya'll the ones that make this uncomfortable. There are some legit answers in this post. Hope the OP saw those before throwing up his hands and moving on.

In any uptempo offense you do not sub as it allows defense to sub as well, defeating the purpose. Thus only players who can play all downs and have entire offense digested get to see the field for most part. The rotation will grow when more kids are ready to play full offense.

The thread is about a lack of WR rotation. You don't have to sit anyone, just give other players some snaps.
My post was in response to switching Dee Williams to WR. Even if they went back to Azzani tactics and cut the top 3’s snaps in half, who in the next rotation sits for a converted DB?

Bru needs to get the ball more when just looking to move the chains. Definition of a possession receiver.

Hurry up offense doesn't really allow for either team to substitute. That's kind of the point to it.

It wasn't "recruiting" quality players that made our receivers, it was coaching the average player and getting transfers in and coaching them up.

How many 4 and 5* recruits have we gotten out of the high school ranks in past 3 years?

This was a bowl game. You play your best players at each position. Moreover, one game does not advertise how a coach may incorporate new recruits into the scheme.
But I get it.
It's been that way for two years though. Year one was Tillman, Velus, and Javonta this year was Bru, Keyton, and Hyatt. Obviously we had Hyatt a little bit last year and Tillman when healthy this year, but still.

I agree we really shouldn't sub during a drive, but maybe filter in people to start a drive and just let them play that entire drive.
