I don't think I would hate Kentucky...

I've been going on thinking that Calipari arranged it all himself for someone else to take the SAT for Rose. Didnt know it was all Rose's idea. THat's why I thought Cal was behind the scandal. I apologize I was confused. :hi:

I appreciate the apology, very classy of you, but its not needed. In fact, I thought the same exact way you do/did until UK started looking for another coach and I looked into Cal's background to find out what happened.

Something I really respected was his ability to keep Roses name clean. Cal gets screamed at and called a cheater everytime he leaves the state, and he never says a word back or answers questions publicly on the matter to clear himself. Instead of going on PTI describing how he shouldnt be blamed, he keeps his mouth shut to save Roses face. Think about it....I've never heard a derogatory word in Roses direction, but uninformed fans hammer Cal every chance possible.

Its not a big reason, its thE reason.

But how can a coach be held responsible for his players actions 24-7? You think UT should have had an entire season vacated and Pearl fired because a few of his players were arrested for having drugs and guns in the car? Drugs and guns seems a LOT more serious than cheating on a high school test. In fact, the police see it that way, too.

lets see one is a ncaa violation that clearly jeopardizes the eligibility of a player

the other is against the law and is usually punishable in court, but has nothing to do with eligibility.

are you gonna say they shouldnt be allowed to play? atleast our coaches arent driving around hammered trying to take out innocent people, if you really wanna go down that road, no pun intended.

Can't argue with all that. I live near Memphis and everyone here hates the guy :eek:lol:

Great win over Vandy. Unibrow is a beast.

he's a perfect example why basketball should use the mlb rule.

if you want to go pro out of hs you can, but if you choose to go to college you have to stay 3 years.

guys like davis who are nba ready, would not be in college, and single handidly changing games.

The ACT and SAT are not "high school tests." Having someone else take a standardized college admissions exam for you is more serious than peaking at someone else's paper in biology class.

Strange, I dont recall taking or hearing anyone taking one after high school.

Call it whatever you want. Its a test you take in high school.

I honestly like the way it is. Jmo though. I enjoy seeing these guys in college, plus I think it's a good experience for them. You are right though, some are for sure ready right out of highschool, and if they want, they should be allowed to go pro straight out. I just selfishly like the rule as is.

The problem is the class time. Why would Anthony go to class? There's no need.

I love it for basketball purposes. But not for class purposes.

I would enjoy watching them more if 99% of them didn't end up in our rival team. Haha

With that said, from a basketball standpoint yes I love watching them, can you imaging having watched lebron in college?

As zjc else's to though it's also about class, what reason do they have to go when thy know they are leaving for the draft?

I guess you mean they are for college purposes only, right?

Yes. And, if he can't see the difference in seriousness from getting caught cheating on a high school test and getting caught cheating on a college admissions test, then he's beyond help...but, we knew that already.

One gets you an F and a seat in detention; the other can keep you from getting into college. I wouldn't be surprised if the fraud that Rose participated in would follow most people around for the rest of their lives, but I guess if you're one of the NBA's best players, people are going to forget that you cheated to get into college for a year.

A college probably will never hear about an isolated incident with a high school test, but they'll likely toss an application into the trash if they hear you had someone else take the admissions test for you.

hahaaa.....looks like we've got some football hopefuls and I've hit a nerve. :eek:lol:

Come on fellas, UK football is like Duke or IU football, you're not going to see any of them win something significant unless you drink a quart of kerosene and bump your head.

And you can save me the story of how Grampa Brooks succeeded by winning unheard of bowl games that had as much interest (outside the state) as a Donkey show in Tijuana.

Great post!

Why stop at turning off the locals by being an annoying, useless troll, when you can also alienate BBN with gems like this?

I'm sure there is a % of UT football fans who will always be apathetic about basketball, but it's not like they venture to the Bball forum and tell everybody who is "hopeful" to basically take their basketball hopes and go suck a lemon.

Translation: UK football fans can't be front-runners and troll rival boards.

Someone asked what I thought about UK football, I'm just telling it like it is.

I love UK, but I'm very realistic on where we sit. If I had a dollar for everytime someone said "next year they'll be good because...." I'd be a wealthy cat.

UT basketball is very much like UK football. Both celebrate and praise "moral" wins (hanging elite 8 banners vs hanging worthless bowl banners). Both are 2nd to the programs primary sport. And both will never win a title.

this is definitely your new all time dumbest statement on this board.

nothing else needs to be said.

ok i cant help it, i have to say more:

im pretty sure tennessee is in no way like uk football. have you guys beaten us 26 times in row, or whatever it is? i dont think so. have you guys been ranked #1 in the country in football? i dont think so. have you beating multiple #1's in football? i dont think so. do you have a streak of 6 postseason appearances in football? i dont think so.

tennessee doesnt celebrate moral victories in basketball, where do you get your information from. when we hung with duke in maui, nobody was really claiming a moral victory, especially not the coaching staff and players, they said themselves there are no moral victories...another inaccurate statement by judge

elite 8 banners are worthless in your mind? it means you were one of the 8 best teams to end the year in college basketball. can uk say that they were EVER on of the 8 best teams to end the year in football.

yes basketball is 2nd to football at the university, but that doesnt mean that its on the level of uk football. florida basketball is 2nd to florida football, does that mean their basketball team is comparable to UK football team. Im sorry but i would consider UK cheerleading the 2nd biggest sport at UK before i thought of football, with that joker for a coach you have.

you have truly outdone yourself this time judge!

Please, please, please, please stop encouraging that turd. He just comes over here to get people riled up. He's a waste of space. 95% of the people on here have either ignored him or skip over what he writes. He's irrelevant.

You guys watching our practice on Wednesday that'll be televised on ESPNU? :)

"We don't move the needle, we are the needle."

You're right on some examples, but not all.

Basketball is just different than football. 26 losses in a row in basketball wont happen cause its basketball, a sport where the better team loses against a bad team on a weekly basis. UK lost to Indiana this season, but UK is much much better....but its basketball. The NFL vs NBA is a good example. Before this season, the Lakers have owned the Clippers...but the Clips still won a game here and there.

Its common for a the #1 team in bb to lose to unranked teams. Its not in football.

Major upsets are definitely more likely in basketball. A better comparison of UT basketball vs UK football is that UT basketball has actually been nationally relevant for the better part of the past 7 seasons; we're barely a .500 team this year, but we've done enough to show that we're not going away. UK has been nationally relevant in football for a grand total of one week in the past 30+ years (hosting GameDay vs Fla a week after beating LSU).

Anyway, the point wasn't to drag UK football through the mud; it was about a troll exploding on true fans who haven't given up on a program that, in spite of recent struggles, is on its best 10-year run since probably Bear Bryant. They actually show up feeling like they have a chance to win now; laughable perhaps to rivals, but much better than past decades.
