If I were looking for a reason to criticize Rupp many years after his death, I'd go with recruiting violations, rather than debate whether or not he was a racist at a time when the entire league was all-white.

People point out that he recruited 1 black player in 42 years. Hardly right considering black players weren't recruited by "white southern" schools until the late 60s.

Actually no. Glory Road depicts him as one but the truth is he actually supported what the UTEP coach was doing more than any other coach they played against that year. Movie distorts it for dramatic effect. Great movie though.

They could not believe that another SEC school would DARE win the NCAA Tournament, after all it is their birthright.

One of those inbreds when they were trying to poach Donovan DURING the week of the Final Four of '07 (THE lowest class thing I've ever seen in sports), said that Donovan would leave Florida in a heartbeat because winning a national title at UK was worth more than winning THREE at Florida. A florida fan is talking about what?

I clearly remember gator fans throwing water bottles and coins on the floor when Tubby won a couple down there. Thats something you wont see UK fans do...throw crap like a 1920's boxing match. UK may have a couple of crazy fans, but Gainesville has a whole arena.

As for comparing winning a title in Fla vs UK.. I think he was trying to say that nobody cares in Florida. You guys cant even sell out the arena being ranked in the top 25 unless UK comes to town. Donovan won the title and he probably came back to a small gathering at a Arbys for the celebration. In Lex they throw parades and huge parties. I wouldnt be surprised if 50% of your student body forgot what year they won.

I enjoyed the post and was a grad student at Florida in Spring 2007. That said, must you choose the series total as your screen name? I doubt you'd last long in the football forum with a name like that, especially in the Fall. But, in the basketball forum when you're about to play UK in basketball, you'll squeak by nearly unnoticed.

A UK fan shouldn't bother debating sports with a Florida fan. The only bullet you have is a greater passion among the fans for basketball, and you've already fired it. You're done. The Gator could shoot back all night.

This whole thread is dumb, can't we just agree that all fan bases have their share of idiots and leave it at that? I'm really embarrassed some times by behavior I see at UK football and basketball games but I would imagine it happens at all SEC (and other) schools. Keep the tea bagging/tree poisoning out of it and I think that we can agree that we’re people first fans second and we could all stand to get some perspective before we sound like idiots on a message board.
