I find it hilarious

I think the point is that our team should have been better prepared than to go out and play that poorly. If the competition was really good and we played as hard as we could and lost, I don't think we would complain nearly as much. There was just no reason to be that poorly prepared and let a team like that beat us with the talent that we have. Where else do you lay the blame?

I just can't believe how many under the basket shots were missed. If Zo allowed them to run more they could get better looks at the basket without crowd of opposing players around them. Our guys can win the one on one's most of the time. Stokes must improve here also.

I am more concerned with the inside defense than the offense. It was the first half of the season, offense will come. I know the rule change makes it tough for our big boys down low, but letting the guy you defend get between you in the basket is basketball 101. Every time we would collapse on a guard, the post would be left wide open on the block. If that continues, wait till we play much more athletic big men than that. It will be a cake walk for them.

Great point. We gave up the baseline way too often also.

What about the big Luc Longley looking guy playing for Xavier last night, with the James Worthy goggles on. Its almost impossible to stop that

Not a reflection of my personal opinion on Martin, but I remember these threads when Dooley was the coach. "Trust our coaches"

I'm 100% confident I coach that team to a win last night and don't give a **** if you find it hilarious, really.

If you can get up a few times - bark out instructions - ask the players to pass the ball, cut and penetrate - give Moore more minutes, call time outs at appropriate times, don't call time outs at inappropriate times and clean up your substitution patterns -- then you would get my vote over what I witnessed last night.

In contrast, the Lady Vols seemed well coached so it doesn't look like I will need your help with that squad :)

This team will only get better. This team will definitely make the tournament.

A does not necessarily equal B. We can get better and still not make the tournament.

Our pre-SEC schedule is mostly crap, which put more emphasis on last night's game. Improved play vs Upstate won't move the tourney needle very much.

That's why I posted what I did. Just a couple of coaching moves, or nonmoves, and let the kids play and you get a W.
And how loose did the Lady Vols look on the offensive end compared to us? Rhetorical as I have a bad hoops habit and watched that game. Watched for basically 12 hours on 2 TV's yesterday. Pathetic really.

The one thing I am confident in is that if the "new" foul rules are continued to be called like they were across all the college games last night 1)the college games will not be very much fun to watch AND 2) UT has to shoot better than 7 of 19 from the line or we will not make it to any tournament.

As frustrated as I was watching that game last night nothing was more frustrating than watching the missed free throws. There is a reason they call them "free". Need to take advantage of those opportunities. Smh.

I'm still on the train, but honestly, I don't think Martin has a clue on what to do with his offense.

I hear you. What is baffling to me is that Rob Lewis quoted Cuonzo as saying they didn't run any of their plays in the exhibition games because they didn't want to show Xavier anything to scout. I'm thinking, "okay, we're going to hit the ground with a real offense this year." Then, nothing.

that all the fans on this site seem to know more about basketball than CCM and staff. TN played horrible against Xavier and still had a chance at the end. This team will only get better. This team will definitely make the tournament.

To me it has more to do with the type of team I feel we have....Getting hyped all off season for basketball and then watching that horrible display of basketball. It was like taking a punch to the gut. We might squeeze into the tourney as the 3rd SEC team bc it still looks like the rest of the SEC is struggling besides Kentucky and Florida.

That alone should be more than enough to get off the train.

We should NEVER settle for a coach who is clueless in any aspect of the game.

It comes down to this: WIN OR BE GONE, PERIOD !

Yep, we may even will our first round game in the NIT.

I just can't believe the unrealistic expectations of our fan base !!! We just have the crappiest fan base in the country. Us diehards have been here since before the Ray Mears era, we and know infinitely more about college basketball than you "Johnny come lately's". We know better than to have expectations that are too high. Shame on all of you people who will just not give the coach at least 7 or 8 years to really produce and keep the program stable. (wink wink)

Support our mediocre coach people !!! Three cheers for Cuonzo!!!

:3cheers:

I have been a Cuonzo supporter from the time he got here , and I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet . That being said , the game last night shook my faith . This is a very talented team , and I don't care if they were favored , we should have beaten Xavier . We are a much more talented team . That was one of the most pathetic displays of offense I have ever seen . There was no excuse for that . Cuonzo better be working on the offense or we will get off to another slow start . I want to avoid being crappy in November and December this year .That has been what has kept us out of the tournament the last two years . I'm hoping this was just being rusty , with it being first game and all that .

That's hilarious.

Go make some money then instead of doing whatever it is you're currently doing where you don't make as much money. Makes logical sense to me.

Terribly constructed sentence above. Really, with an asst coach, my 10 yr old makes better decisions on the bench last night. Not a doubt.
