I find it so ironic

This year: Virginia (who wasn't good til after we beat them), Xavier (who beat us to open the year even though they were missing players)

Last year: Florida, Kentucky, Xavier, Wichita State, Missouri

Two years ago: Florida, Florida, Vandy, UCONN

Say what you want about this team, but the biggest reason they are in and the past two teams weren't is math formulas. They didn't win more games really, finished no better in a worse conference and had just as many, if not more disappointing losses.

And for the record, I don't know what the committee considers as a "good win." I just know what I consider to be one.

Xavier and UK did not make the tournament last year. IIR, Xavier finished 80+ in the RPI- same as LSU and OM this year.

Pearl's last team had 18 wins and a .500 conference record. If that wasn't on the bubble, it had to be close.

Actually, that team was much more safely in than this team. We ended up playing about 40% of our games against NCAAT teams. Nova, VCU, Pitt, USC, Oakland, and Memphis were all OOC teams that made the tournament.

They did a good job of scheduling. I don't think the schedule was all that much harder. It's a numbers game. I mean, does it really matter if you're playing a team that's 90th or 150th and whether you're playing them home or away? That crap should all weigh the same. Teams like that are both turds, they just have different smells.

This season has been Martin's most disappointing and it's not close in my book. Still time to change that though.

Playing a top 100 team on the road is much different than playing a 150 type team. If you look at this year's RPI, that would be comparing a game against Ole Miss (around 90) to Morehead State (around 140 last time I checked). Anything over 100 is considered a bad loss. Good and even great teams lose to top 100 teams on the road all of the time.

Lol a 8 seed on the bubble.Your clueless bro.

Now that was, in fact, ironic, and I doubt you realize why.

I didn't say they absolutely were a bubble team. I said they had to be close to it. They got in with 18 wins. How many teams you ever see get in with 16 or 17 wins?

Missing the point. I probably should have looked up some numbers before spouting them off. Admittedly, I don't pay attention to numbers and RPI. My point is that if you are playing a team that is slop, you're playing a team that is slop. To what degree they are slop should not matter.

Tennesse Tech, Tennesse State, Citadel, Carson Newman, Tusculum and high school teams should all count the same in my book.

Hope I'm making sense.

Right. I give CCM credit for it. Kudos.

Pearl's teams weren't relying on scheduling to get them above the cut line though. It was about seeding, which is what this years team should've been playing for. Now we are just hoping to avoid playing in Dayton on a Tuesday night as if we were in the women's tourney.

the womens basketball team is just doing fine in the tourney, they should be a 1 seed, which i know makes a lot of so called fans cringe

that is ironic to me :)i do wish CCM a good run,he definitely needs one

I wonder how many are complaining because they don't want CCM to win. When that also means that the Vols win too. Even if we made the elite eight they will be angry.

Our fan base has problems letting go, are sometimes delusional, and express themselves with anger on these boards.

Heck, I signed me and my wife up on the petition but if a guy earns his spot to stay.... more power to him. We may see a change in him as he grows into a great coach. We've all been given second and third chances, why not give CCM one.

Just curious, how will you feel next year if the team is hovering around the .500 mark hoping for a NIT bid? Not trying to be a smart a$$ just interested in your perspective.

That team got in entirely because of the Pitt and Nova wins, even when their play after showed that stretch as a fluke. I can't believe people who were paying attention during that year consider this team to be "backing into" the tourney by comparison.

Damn, I can't compete with a response at 3 in the morning, and I am not old either. Lol.

Well, if you don't keep up with the RPI, then I think some things would surprise you. However, I don't disagree with you saying teams like Tennessee Tech, Tennessee State, The Citadel, and Tusculum are all the same...because they are. All bad RPI teams. However, there are teams that occasionally win an OOC game and excel in their small conference who have decent RPI's. You would also be surprised at how high some teams reach in the RPI. North Dakota State is an example this year- they are 34 and play in the Summitt League.

So, it does matter if a team is top 100 or not.

I must have missed that one, what was the deal with the jackass who didn't pay? I'm guessing he got someone from here to send him tickets and he never paid the other poster back?
