I had no idea Clemson was this terrible...

We finally have a coach who understands how to coach and win football. For instance, when we lined up to go on 4th down, we had no intention of going for it. It was done to make them burn a to. Very good football strategy

They have a good DL even with the opt outs. RBs were good,

PK was great until last night. I think Dabo iced him on the fake punt

That young QB can be good if he doesn't get gun shy from all the abuse last night and has a good QB coach to develop him.

At full strength we would have hung 50+ on them.
Clemson's talent level has clearly slipped since 2019, but that's still a very good team. I know some people won't see it this way, but I think last night's win was huge for us. We recruit head to head against Clemson a lot, and unfortunately, they have won some in-state battles against us. I think the reemergence of Tennessee football will be heavily at their expense on the recruiting trail.

I am not taking anything away from Tennessee, but my goodness, Clemson is awful. If they played as bad as they did tonight, I am not sure they would beat any team. Nonetheless, I am happy Tennessee won! It's been a great year.
Thing is Clemson isn't terrible, we tried hard to recruit Shipley. Also Jake the tight end. Those are high quality players. We are simply the better team with better coaching.

We just dominated the number 7 team in the country. Maybe we’re just that much better?

Just thinking about this brings a smile on my face. Butch was the last UT coach to beat a top 10 team and it happened in 2010. Since then we had gone like 0-42 against top 10 teams. Heupel beat 2 top 10 teams this year.

Clemson just had about 500 yards, 34 1st downs and ran over 100 plays. Yes… we were able to get after the QB on key plays, but give me a break with calling it “one of the worst offensive performances”. This thread is basically like a crowd chanting overrated after a big win. Makes no sense.

After reading his previous posts, he appears to be a fan of another team. He may live in Tennessee or have some Vol friends or family, which keeps him informed on the team. But it reads like it was written by someone that’s bitter about our team’s success. 🤷🏻

Butch wasn’t even in Knoxville in 2010. That was Derek Dooley’s first year (@ lsu game and the UNC MCB). I think you’re referring to the South Carolina game in 2013, but point taken. This year was a huge success for our program and will be remembered as the turning point that sparked our reemergence as a national player.

Think it had anything to do with the effort the Vols played with? I saw 2 teams playing very hard. One team dominated critical downs by making plays & forcing the other into mistakes.

I saw Clemson a couple times this year and they looked bad. I felt they were over rated all year. They benefited in the past by having 2 good QB's back to back ( Watson/Fabio with the long hair ) that covered up Dabo's poor coaching
Don’t forget Amari Rogers, Travis Etienne, Tee Higgins. They were loaded with talent.

THIS! We DO recruit head to head with them very frequently. That worm has now turned.

The post-game show displayed a graphic which indicated that we pressured their prematurely-anointed-for-the-heisman freshman quarterback, who was making his first start on the collegiate level, 26 times. That was by far the most any Clemson quarterback has been pressured since 2013. On those 26 downs, he finished 7-20-2 for 82 yards and no touchdowns. In short, we did exactly what we should have done, i.e., relentlessly pressure an extremely talented but inexperienced quarterback.
I watched a bit of it the replay today. Klubnik got blasted so many times I quit counting. It reminded me so much of the LSU game. He actually made some decent decisions but man did he take a beating. Heck…Beasley lit him up several times by himself. Great game plan from the Vols. They handily beat the ACC champions.

And a key to the game!

Clemson is not awful.

11-2(3) conference champion and a top 10 team, which is still loaded with talent

Give the Vols some credit.

Right, but their quarterback was really bad. He looked lost and not ready to play a team with a defense at all.

He was a True FR starting his 2nd game and threw for 320 yards. He didn't play bad at all, he doesn't have the elite playmakers at WR that Clemson usually has. Hell he led an offense that went up and down the field on us..luckily our D stepped up in the red zone. QB play wasn't why they lost.

Exactly..They were just young and inexperienced at QB and didn't have many playmakers.
