I've always wondered if having a WR1 or WR2 off the field forces a QB to read more as its takes away his bias towards those players. So long as you have the horses to run and they know the scheme you would expect a wider pass distribution. Let's be honest, Vandy's DBs are not great but the WRs looked a lot better yesterday and we got it done (eventually).

Hope this is the WR room turning the corner!

We are beginning to show the depth in many positions (highlighted by the WR this week) that CJH and co have been working their butts off on the recruiting trail for. This is year four for this regime and we are in the CFP. We should be very thankful. These guys had a plan and it is working out. Go Vols!!!

EDIT: This staff is recruiting like this with all of the sanctions left by Pruitt's shenanigans. Simply amazing.

Give them more money and all they do is run to the concession stand while the game is going on. How can we ever compete with Kentucky offering free snow-cones to players ?

I saw Vandy's DLine getting zero pressure on Nico. He had time to check down his receivers and find the open man. I think we have had players open, but Nico had no time to scan the entire field.

Yes.
That plus Nico proving that he can indeed be a running threat. They have to allow and adjust for that. With his tall frame, several strides gets him about five yards.

+ Nico was really sharp with the intermediate throws yesterday. Another deep ball fiasco though. At least we only threw one.

Agree.

Our offensive line has improved a lot throughout this year and the WR core is getting better. Nico is getting better as well but these later two have helped him.

Losing Cooper Mays will be rough but I think Offensive Line could improve next year. Despite the heat he has taken on here, Lance Heard is probably the most improved player and he has turned into a vocal leader.

Random selection but thst proved true with Chad Pennington. Yes he was amde famous by repeatedly going to Randy Moss. Pennington adapted spreading the ball around. That definitely helped scouts see he could do it without his superstar.

If 3 is healthy, which he hasn’t been since the Arkansas game, I would disagree. But he hasn’t been able to use his right arm since then so I think you’re right there. I don’t agree with the Bru take tho. We can throw it to him on the outside and it’s a guaranteed 5 yards. That’s hard to replace. I like our depth tho. Glad to see Brazzell get some good action.
